I believe Mr. Lee Kuan Yew to be mistaken with regard to the continuity of the Catholic Church.

Actually, this election is hardly surprising, if one had followed developments in the Anglican Communion in recent years, and I would say it is not the worst possible.
We have the example of retired former bishop of Newark, Dr. John Spong. He wrote books about the Gospels being nice stories, that Jesus didn't rise from the dead and hence the Resurrection was a myth. And of course, he was never fired (since no one had the power to do that) and I believe he continues to receive a pension from the Episcopal Church.
I believe the day will come when the Asian and African bishops' conferences in the Anglican Communion will split from the heretical westerners, to return to a more authentic Biblical faith. In fact, some have already formed the Anglican Mission In America to re-evangelise the neo-pagan lands.
