There are serveral ways to use the Strong's concordence, and different people use this in different ways.Originally posted by Icemoon:People expert in semitic languages and koine greek .. still need Strong's Concordences?
And the basis for their objections?Originally posted by gasband:FOR EXAMPLE: 8 out of 10 people I meet who objects to using rock music - heavier stuff (in the vein of Zao) for evangelism or even worship are fundamentalists.

Hmm yeah they are good but I am not toking Sonic Flood or Delirious etc.... they are rock but they are mild and they have Jesus and God all over their songs and so sometimes it is easy to call them "christian music".Originally posted by vince69:ever heard of the Christian Rock Group, Sonic Flood? they are good..
There's a thin line between Rock music and using Band instruments for Worship.Originally posted by gasband:1. Too loud.
2. It just does not seem right.
3. What can u hear?
4. Everything christian must be orderly. Such kind of music seems too disorderly.
5. Its for the rebellious kids/teenagers.
Hardly anything biblical, isnt it?
The worst dismissal that a fundamentalist ever told me is that I am involved in such music becos I was in my teenage phase. But I am 29 now and I am still very involved in such music. And I still believe such music can be used for God's glory. And it has.
So our local Methodist church arent fundamental enough?Originally posted by M©+square:There's a thin line between Rock music and using Band instruments for Worship.
The fundamentalist reject worship using Band instruments eg. Electric guitar, Drums.
I think you've got your info alittle wrong?

Rock music for the purpose of worship is definitely no no in traditional protestant church.

Must say, I have not hear the heavy metal kind yet, but I do enjoy Sonic Flood.Originally posted by gasband:Hmm yeah they are good but I am not toking Sonic Flood or Delirious etc.... they are rock but they are mild and they have Jesus and God all over their songs and so sometimes it is easy to call them "christian music".
When you have a group like ZAO or Demon Hunter who are christians but their music are basically thrash metal/heavy metal etc.... most of these fundies would dismiss them. Of cos there are some who are more accepting.
The off part is that,Originally posted by gasband:Err which part of my info is a little off?
Actually I dun mind Hill Song, but if u look into the bible, there are verses which do says something abt order in the church too.Originally posted by gasband:1. Too loud.

Fundamentals doesn't only disapprove ROCK music.
Which they will naturally speak against.
But they even disallow the instruments to be played.
So they are against the idea of associating with the instruments even.
It's not the music, it's the association of the instruments and Rock genre.
it's all up to the spiritual Leader of the school.Originally posted by laurence82:So our local Methodist church arent fundamental enough?

It relates to ROCK genre. Which in that era, rock is about SEX drugs alcohol and death - unholy.Originally posted by laurence82:And the basis for the objection is...?
Ermm if you say instruments on the whole as a category, then its not true lah...cos they still use church organs or pianos andorgans are pretty much used in alot of rock music.Originally posted by M©+square:The off part is that,

wah! u were a fundie!Originally posted by gasband:And I got it first hand from these people as I used to come from a bible-presbyterian church and a brethen church too.
I was in a Brethen church before and the worship session is from 8am - 9am and after which is preaching. During the 1 hour, there is no worship leader. Any male can stand up and point to a hymn and we the organist will play and we sing. There are times when no one spoke up and so the one hour passed with no singing and just for reflection and personal worship.Originally posted by laoda99:Actually I dun mind Hill Song, but if u look into the bible, there are verses which do says something abt order in the church too.
I also have a question: why must Christians point to the sky during worship and praise......I have culture shock when I first went experienced this......
What fundies are against are the people who go for an experiential type of worship, rather than really worshipping the lord....
haha yes....i was in 2 brethen churches when i first came to know Christ 12 years ago then I moved on to a BP church and my current church is a Methodist church.Originally posted by laoda99:wah! u were a fundie!
the Dead Sea Scrolls were written Hebrew. The Septuagint is written in Greek.Originally posted by Icemoon:Dead Sea Scrolls have ALL the OT books except Esther.
The Dead Sea Scroll actually established the accuracy of the Septuagint, not the Masoretic Text. It must be noted the Septuagint itself is a translation.
