That time so funny. (sidetrack a bit)
My non Catholic friend who tried to stop me from being a Catholic told me that the Priests will ask for money to "absolve me from my sins".
I : "Nope. So far I didn't see leh. Nobody asks me for money. If they do that, I will know one."
My friend : "Got! Some of the Catholic churches still do that. "
I : "Which one?"
My friend : "The one at Novena."
I : "I am attending that one! "
My friend : "(dot dot dot)"
last time, when I considering joining the Catholic. Cuz the Priests there gave very good sermons.Originally posted by vince69:*Off topic

The site is managed by ONE individual who has very bizarre views on almost everything. Beyond just comments on Catholics, he also have issues with Messianic Jews and the once-save-always-save belief.
Any website that is not managed by an organisation, hence lacking in the checks and measures, is not worth its salt.
I'd say leave it alone.
Meditate on those parts in red. You have no idea how arrogant you are.Originally posted by vince69:What you say is true, do not put your faith in the books in the Bible, put your faith in the God who authored the books in the Bible. Neither should anyone put their faith on their pastor, but rather they should put their faith in the God that enabled the pastor.
given these, why do we still study/read the Bible?
1) we want to find God for us to put our faith in God (look at the finger pointing to the moon and follow its direction to see the moon)
2) we want to know how God wanted us to approach Him and relate to Him (His way, not our way)
3) We want to know the character of God, what He is like
(like when looking at the moon, how we know if we are looking at the moon or just its reflection?)
...etc (non exhastive, cause others have their own reasons)
its ok, you are entitled not to agree with me.Originally posted by casino_king:Meditate on those parts in red. You have no idea how arrogant you are.

NCC is not the extreme yet, actually very far from it (btw, Ps Prince don't really like the ultra charismatics)Originally posted by laoda99:My gf was from NCC. She speak in tongues too and she is great fan of PS Prince.
I have a talk with her yesterday night and her version of born again is definitely not extreme.
She defines born again as simply when we receive the holy spirit (become christian).
I believe so too. Every christian is a new creation. We are born again liao.

Is this what she says in page 81/82 as metioned in the webby, I think there is more to this,
"We never try to convert those who receive (aid) to Christianity but in our work we bear witness to the love of God's presence and if Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, or agnostics become for this better men—simply better—we will be satisfied. It matters to the individual what church he belongs to. If that individual thinks and believes that this is the only way to God for her or him, this is the way God comes into their life—his life. If he does not know any other way and if he has no doubt so that he does not need to search then this is his way to salvation."
If there is one thing I do know about mission/charity work (especially if the aim is charity), is that we do not try to convert those that comes for the aid, doing so is not ethical as its only preying on people in their weakness, with the only exception is that when they comes to us volunteeringly to ask about our beliefs or asked to be prayed for, even so, have to be careful and sensitive about it.
