a thought to ponder

posts words here [one liners] that are worthy of pondering. they should be very concise since as i've said they are to be one liners. There maybe thoughts that you find yourself disagreeing but leave as is.....you are not the only one who will read it. To you it may not be worthy to ponder but maybe it is to others. Always bear in mind that you are not everybody.
Let me begin:
here's what i heard from a preacher, they are excellent words to ponder [especially to those who have delayed repentance from their sins]:
If God did not spare His Son to die a horrible death on the cross......WHAT MADE YOU THINK HE WILL SPARE YOU [you who are unrepentant]? -
here is one more
When Christ said on the cross, "it is finished", He really mean It is finished (regarding the payment for the atonement for our sins).

was reading a christian comic book, saw this caption.
Beware of the coffee and donut church...... serves a lukewarm gospel along side some half-baked, sugar-coated doctrine that's flakey on the inside. -
This is something I constantly asked myself in my christian walk.
"To do or not to do, why? is the question."
If salvation/justification can only be through Christ, and can only be received by the grace of God.
to do/not to do good works, to obey/follow or not to obey/follow the commandments, to observe/celebrate or not to observe/celebrate a feast day.
Why? is the question. What is the reason/motivition for us to do them, to observe/celebrate them, to obey/follow them?
If the answer to the Why? question is that I (lets each person make a personal decision on this) want to do these because of the great love I have received from God; Because I love God who had first loved me;...etc then by all means do them.
If the answer to this Why?question is I am trying to work out my salvation; because I fear that if I don't do them, God will condemn me; ...etc then my take is there is no point doing them, reason being, when God sees us, He only sees us in Christ, His perfection, His righteousness (not our works, not out faults).
conclusion: Good works have to be done out of a willing and sincere heart, with an attitude of thanksgiving, resting in the beauty and perfection of Christ.

mt initial thought on this was that MohamedF is refering to people who spent significant among of their time on the trains (and/or public transports) -

Very often we hear people says we ought to work out your salvation with fear and trembling (phil 2:12) to tell christian that we have to do good works, have to follow this rules/that rules ...etc and all the while ignore the 2 half of the statement in verse 13.'for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose" saying its God that works in us giving us both the will(desire) and the ability to do these things.Originally posted by Ironside:here's one from Paul:

farther more, Phil 2 started out with being united in Christ, having comfort from His love, having fellowship with the Spirit ...etc then comes to doing good works.Philippians 2:1-18
