Forgiveness
Silas's soul thundered with remorse and rage. "Father, if it takes my lifetime, I will find the one who deceived us, and I will kill him."
Aringarosa shook his head, looking sad as they prepared to wheel him away. "Silas... if you have learned nothing from me, please... learn this." He took Silas's hand and gave it a firm squeeze. "Forgiveness is God's greatest gift."

Aringarosa closed his eyes. "Silas, you must pray." -

A breeze rustled past him, carrying the damp, earthy scent of new life. With every living cell in his broken body, Silas prayed. He prayed for forgiveness. He prayed for mercy.
And, above all, he prayed for his mentor... Bishop Aringarosa... that the Lord would not take him before his time. He has so much work left to do.
The fog was swirling around him now, and Silas felt so light that he was sure the wisps would carry him away. Closing his eyes, he said a final prayer.
From somewhere in the mist, the voice of Manuel Aringarosa whispered to him.
Our Lord is a good and merciful God.
Silas's pain at last began to fade, and he knew the bishop was right. -

The St. Mary's Hospital recovery room was sunny.

The nurse finished puttering, leaving the bishop alone. The sunlight felt welcome and
warm on his face. Last night had been the darkest night of his life.
Despondently, he thought of Silas, whose body had been found in the park.
God blessed the bishop but Silas died. This is justice? Like I said, murder is one of 3 cardinal sins in Judaism. You pay for the sin with your own life.
Silas did pray for the bishop. God should have heard his prayers. -

just write some things dat are contradicting to the belief can liao...then people will 'whack' your book then more people will buy and the cycle goes on and u will laugh ur way to the bank. remember to hint abt a cheatcode or something...or something along dat line. put some words in italics, in bold or wat...just make sure its not uniform can liao lah....Originally posted by laoda99:yeah...we should start writing too.... -

People make mistakes (Silas was a murderer!) but at the end of the day, love and forgiveness triumphed above everything else.
At the end of the day, it is not above Jesus or the Church. Jesus can be married, the Bible can be compiled by humans, the Church can be evil, but God still loves you! Notice how in all the prayers very seldom or never was Jesus ever mentioned?
It is about realizing we are all not perfect. The bishop certainly was not. Too often Protestants use the imputation of righteousness as an excuse for their wrongdoings. No wonder they won't feel the shame after a sin is commited.

If the Bible is not divinely-inspired, then how on earth can anyone, with any certainty, know the mercy of God? How would we know that God loves us, if not for the inerrant truth of the Bible?

Would we not then have to trust the account of a charlatan like Dan Brown? And how reliable would that be, given that he had gone on public television to make claims about the historical accuracy of the things he had written, all of which had been panned by history scholars?
Please, spare me the peachy faith which only remembers God's mercy but forgets that He also gave us the Commandments to follow, and which often neglects to use the gift of the intellect to think clearly.
