Nobody had compelled you to celebrate such festivals in the first place. All the more one should not make any more out of an issue then it really is, as if it was really such a great evil. One might as well not go to church at all because so often it's not being the thing that it ought to.
Obviously one needs to know the true origin, and meaning of how such days came about... but I am not for rejecting them for the sheer value that they have replaced what were otherwise pagan days... if this was the logic then we would have very little days to set aside for the act of rememberance at all. Not that it's necessary, but I always thought we were supposed to change the world.
I believe the truth is this: That each an every day of the year should be reclaimed for Christ. In the end all days still belong to Him, and it's Him we should focus our attention of the days on. Yes, the ignorance and unfaithful habits that have cropped up should be eliminated, but I think it would be a sad thing, and a lesser thing if we decided to push out these days altogether and treat them as if they were some horror.
No, I hardly think so. I think a lot of people have been brought to faith precisely because of Christmas, and if you haven't noticed Christians violently object to the notion of a worldly Christmas as well, and in the Christian mind it should be about anything but just a banal celebration of giving and placid goodwill. The eternal became finite... now that's something to think about.
If Mother Teresa can start her work in India from a temple devoted to the goddess of death Kali, what should we be thinking of reclaiming the land? -

should we not mind looking on the losing side of any argument here if the argument lost somehow leads a person closer to truth?
