my point being, if he wants to be a jew, by all means go ahead. But his claim that the Torah is like the Bible is clearly wrong. The Torah comprises of only 5 books, period. There is no way brey can be an messianic Jew. these are actually Jewish folks who believe in Jesus. Which part of verse 1 states that we must be a Jew? The next part of this passage qualifies the opening verses of chapter 5:

It almost echos the verses of Acts 15 that I had previously quoted.
We are asked to love as God has loved, we are asked to sacrifice as Christ has sacrificed.... nowhere in the Bible does it state that Gentiles need to follow jewish beliefs and traditions. It does, however, states very clearly that jews do not need to burden Gentiles will the yoke that their fathers cannot even bear (Acts 15). -

I think can, like Islam, need to convert. The late Sammy Davis jr (one of the Rat Pack with Frank Sinatra) was a converted Jew. Messianic Jews? I not sure it is exactly precise to call Messianic Jews Christians... for they might not follow the apostle creed at all.
So was the apostle Paul a Messianic Jew or a Christian? I do believe that God still holds several promises for the Jews as His chosen people, so even if they were Christians they would not be of your 'typical' consideration.
But it might be nitpicking over labels yet again, a swatting of words and terms that are often more trouble to the attention, as opposed to the real issues that we should really be thinking about.
But I think we share the same salvation. -
