The comment is totally unfair. I have also not seen nor read the Torah, but as fair as the dictionary defines it:

So I think you are extremely judgemental in making such a statement. Not just that you definition of the Torah way beyond what is commonly understood as the Torah.
So the big question is NOT whether we understand the Torah or not, but whether YOU understand the Torah or not.
