she said. "Therefore, I have brought a little food as an offering to one of the many gods here."
"Offer it to any idol that pleases thee," said Abraham, with a laugh.
The woman placed it before the smallest idol.
"This idol is small and surly," said the boy. "It does not accept thy offering," and he raised his stick and smashed it.
"Try a bigger idol with thy offering," he said, and the woman did so.
"Thou also hast no manners," said Abraham, addressing the god; "eat, or I shall smash thee to pieces."
The idol, of course, did not eat, and so Abraham broke it, and the woman rushed out into the street in great alarm.
Was that so difficult? Have you become so lazy or terrified to think for yourself and swallow everything hook line and sinker just because somebody comes with Rev appended to his name?
some more coming
you mean documented proof of a pope declaring Protestants to be heretics?Originally posted by vince69:on the heretics part, is there any way you can show documented proof of this statement (protentially a very highly debatable subject)?

Then you should say panthesitic religion. Why drag Hinduism into the picture?Originally posted by casino_king:Hinduism is a catholic pantheistic religion. You people have no understanding at all.
You are not comparing apples with apples. KKK is a modern organisation. Hebrew and Islamic scriptures for all intents and purposes as old as the old testament. Furthermore it is clearly in the old testament as well:Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:I will be to the point.
Please learn some critical use of your sources... for all intents and means your appeal on the validity of your sources fall on the fact that we ought to accept them for no other reason because they are extra-Christian, and that it would be inprudent not to consider them.
Granted an outright refusal without debate would be inprudent, but before we launch into a long tirade and dogfight of argument on the validity of your sources, it would be good for you yourself to wonder if you having considered your sources valid on any other grounds besides the fact that it was extra-Christian.
I for example might accept a seccular humanist point on view on the nazis, and not the 'Christian' KKK organization's one. Obviously sheer religion is not a factor for me in considering sources, I bide you the same argument. All the same you have made your case before doing a critical proof of your sources beyond the argument that we ought to listen to it if we are not scared. I will tell you this, I am not scared to listen to them, but all the same I do not accept them yet as valid.
Do we dare launch into a long debate on this?

why are we discussing Abraham now?
The reference to Hinduism was to point out that even idols worshippers can and do find God like Abraham.Originally posted by Icemoon:Then you should say panthesitic religion. Why drag Hinduism into the picture?
That is why I am of the opinion that the Roman Catholic is more in touch with the truth. They teach Faith in God (which leads to direct communication with God) but in the meantime, for those who continue to seek, they can see the statues of Jesus and Mary and the saints.Originally posted by casino_king:

I tot all the while Christians have direct communication with God. When I pray and confess my sins, I pray to God in the name of Jesus, not to a priest.Originally posted by casino_king:What do believers do when they gather? Rituals. The staues are meaningless, the rituals are meaningless. What is important; the aim; the whole objective is to come into direct communication with God.
