This would be entertaining if it wasn't going under the guise of actual intellectual discourse. An actual intellectual who truly and honestly holds CK's point of view might be rapping on his head for disfiguring it with illogic and inconsistency of argument. In fact if one is so illogical about his very own point of view, the strongest part of which he says to be logic... one cannot be sure he is actaully saying anything at all to begin with.
Frankly on CK's question on if man can ever understand God, and following so if one even needs to understand God... I suggest a moments consideration into the matter.
Perhaps one is mixing up the impossibility of ever knowing God with the need to know Him (in a certain fashion). Also I wonder who is the one here who is perhaps suggesting that there is only one kind of 'knowing' and 'understanding', asking yet another question that would have been avoided with common sense.
my boots, my father, my friend, my nation and my worlds all use the word 'my', but they are different kinds of 'my'. Frankly I don't even know why we need to even bring this up at all, if one had the common decency to ask thoughtful questions instead of hoping for volume in dialouge.
A child may not fully understand his parents and the things they do, but he knows them well enough in a fashion that this thing called family life is possible. -

People reading a book about another person will know about the person. Having said that, we are not talking about a human being, we are talking about God. For the academics, reading the Bible will allow them to know ABOUT God. For those who believe in God, reading the Bible will allow them to KNOW God.
