FYI, CHRIST rose during passover, the disciples got filled with the holy spirit at pentacost. If you want to celebrate passover everyday you can.
You want to practice ungodly paganistic practices without knowing their meanings and symbolisms, go ahead be my guest.
Perhaps you should reexamine yourself and see if by doing that you are displeasing GOD? How do we know whether we are displeasing GOD? By HIS WORD, the BIBLE. Or do you not read the bible? If you are doing things which are not according to what GOD says, then maybe you need to reexamine yourself. -

all that I am asking is that we see the truth written in the bible as the LORD would have wanted it, it is not who is right or righteous but what the LORD wants of us. But there is nothing in Scripture to show why the Christians are wrong in *commemorating* the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. -

When the RCs pray to Mary, NT2 complained.
When the RCs now put their eyes on Jesus Christ, you complain.
Furthermore, I've shown there are two issues and that the comparison you tried to make is very much invalid.
My stand is that you are free to not celebrate easter and good friday 'cos I think the celebration will *stumble* you. But I can't see why you view them as life and death issue until you have to make the kinds of vile comments.

Yeah right. So the death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus is paganistic and ungodly after all ..If you are doing things which are not according to what GOD says, then maybe you need to reexamine yourself.

The celebration of easter does not stumble me, it sickens me! If you cannot see why it is of such concern, then I will not debate the topic any further, as you say all of you are mature christians here. -

If they the RC's want to put their eyes on Jesus, that is all well and good and fine by me, but when they do it while entwining it with a pagan festival, then I have something to say.
The comparison i make is very valid, if you ask yourself these questions, what does it mean to be a christian and as a christian whose life are we imitating and following? If we do not imitate or follow Him who is our supposed saviour, then what are we? -

- Attending Mass
- Observing Lenten season to prepare for Good Friday
- Celebrating Palm Sunday
- Going to church on Good Friday
etc etc???
Or it is more Christian to:
- stop commemorating Good Friday cuz bible didn't say so
- the word Easter is wrong, cuz it happened to be used by pagans before
- overly obssessive over what the bible says
- follow the bible only, and ignore what the church practise over 2000 years
- stop commemorating or celebrating anything not mentioned in the bible
Christianity was introduced to China during the Tang Dynasty. Have you ever wondered why it failed?
Easter no doubt is connected with Eggs and Rabbits, the essence of the pagan religion is no longer there. It's more like a fun thing for the kids, which is not even compulsory. Christmas is celebrated on a pagan holiday. I don't see anything wrong with it cuz nobody remembers what the pagan religion is all about. We only remember that Jesus was born to the world. If you ask me, I really had no idea what was originally celebrated on 25 Dec until the Fundies made a big fuss over this.
Don't forget the whole of Europe was once upon a time worshipping pagan gods. Whatever non church related activities practised today was only passed down from generations to generations, just like our Chinese New Year and Duan Wu (Dumpling or Boat Racing) Festival. There is no pagan religion connotation or conflict with Church teaching/practises.
I certainly agree with focusing on Jesus alone. And therefore, there is no need to trace the source of the pagan festival, when the pagan religion has already died and forgotten. If you asked me Easter is to worship which god, frankly I am not interested to find out. I only know on Easter Sunday, I go to church to celebrate the ressurrection of Christ. That's all I need to know and that's what God would like us to do.
