The Gospel of Judas is one of several ancient accounts of Christ's life which were rejected as suspect by the fathers of the early Church and so they did not become part of the Bible .
The document reportedly argues that Judas Iscariot, known to Christians as the man who betrayed Jesus Christ, was an essential part of God's design and, as such, almost a hero .
Without his betrayal, Jesus would not have been crucified and so, the argument goes, God's plan to save mankind from its sins would not have been fulfilled .
The papyrus containing the text of the 'gospel' appeared about 30 years ago on the Egyptian antiquities market. It had last been heard of in AD180, when Saint Irenaeus, a bishop, condemned it as heretical . The text was the work of an ancient Gnostic sect called the Cainites, whichmade a habit of giving a positive value to all the negative figures in Christian scriptures .

Gnostic teachings and influences just keep on appearing the scene. Satan keeps on repackaging those old heresies as something new. Same dog, new tie. Da Vinci code, Knights Templar writings and etc.
Beware of gnosticism brethren. the apostles vigorously opposed their teachings. John the apostle opposed this teaching when it appeared in seed form in 1 John. -
National geographic channel is showing this episode on the gospel of judas on channel 11 sunday 9th april. This is the first time the gospel of judas is actually published and broadcast for the world since it was found during the 50s. Whether you are a christian or not, I'm sure people will be intrigued to find out what the gospel of judas actually is talking about

I will just stick to the four books in the bible. Read too much all the la la jak jak versions from dunno what source, can either make you smarter, or damage the brain.

But I have to admit it is very interesting to read gnostic ideas. They are just so human in their ideologies.

we may not know if the gospel of judas was really written by judas himself or his followers. orthodox christians may have their skeptism about gospels discovered in the last century. Being a christian myself, im always keen to find out more and learn more.

Written not by an individual, but by a group.... see today newpapers (Sat 8, Straits times or Today).

Nothing much. Thought they try to use the findings to challenge today's church teachings. Chey.....
The book is authentic....but was already rejected by the Bishop then. -

I watched it and imho, straight away I can see why the church fathers rejected it.
It contradicts the OT and as we know authentic messengers of God never contradict those messengers who came before them.
And has anyone noticed this, National Geographic is getting hostile towards religions and Christians in particular?
I think its has to do, with the that gay person who has taken over.
Lately, there have been an onslaught of programmes on NG that imply religions are false, at certain times hints at universalism,etc
A few months before the 'gospel of Judas', there was a programme which had 2 atheists as hosts,can't remember the name now.
And on 30th april there is this show called 'secret bible week' -

My thoughts...
Whatever finding I dun care. It should not be challenging all faith or the Church's teachings. First of all, it's been rejected almost 2000 years ago and will still be rejected for the same reason as AD180. Besides, our faith doesn't evolve around whether Judas was trusted by Jesus or deserved any credits.
All we should know, already know, and will continue to believe will be:
Judas "sold" Jesus to the High Priests.
Judas was the traitor that Jesus mentioned at the table.
Judas did regret so and returned the money but was refused.
Judas committed suicide.
Was Judas a good person? Well, it has nothing to do with our faith in Jesus being the Saviour. Going deeper into the finding doesn't lead us nearer to God anyway. -

Gospel of Judas, Da Vinci Code and etc.............another of those hammers that the Bible will soon wear out. -
it's strange why there seems to be a need nowadays to air so many "alternative" christianity documentaries... it's like lending heavy weight to a small proportion of the action range of opinion... in my opinion not a very scientific process. it seems people are more willing to suspect cover-ups and trust texts that support these notions without wanting to really drag all the evidence out into the open, in which case, it might not really be much of a fight.
but then i guess it's our place to know our stuff, and know what to do with it when the time comes. -
This aspect of research and discovery is good for the advancement of the gospel in the world. Many people do not believe in Christianity because they feel that there is not enough evidence to prove the existence of God. This is also a good form of publicity too
