Who to give?

I have just receive a humble bonus and wish to give to an honest christian charity or ministry, along the line of "true religion is giving to the widows and orphans"- feed the poor and clothe the homeless type. india china... doesnt matter as long they are honest people.
reluctant to give to my church cos not too impressed with the way they are spending these days.. full stop- no names no flames here please...
believe that we should tithe faithfully to our local church, but above the tithes, maybe its time we should research on well meaning christian charity that we can bless too. some doesnt really have a church affiliation but does good work outside singapore.
appreciate your experience and knowledge in this. thank you. -
Logically I would have recommended that the good works (ie. charity) be done through the local church you are attending, but since you want to do it outside the church context, I would susgest to you to first decide on which area of ministry is close to your heart (elder care, children care, ophanage, handicap...etc) then look for the particular organisation that is in this ministry, remember to pray about it also, when you find the ministry/organisation God is leading to, you will feel the peace to release the funds.

I did a Charity event for them last year. I am very particular bout the charity homes that i choose. Christian outreach have been running deficits if you go through their financial statements on their website.
They rely mostly on public donations.

i believe God uses each one of us in ways He sees suitable to be of a blessing to others. So perhaps you can ask the Lord (through prayers) of who or which ministry you can give to, thinking back to the past ministries you have served - since you might already know where are the needs.
Like last year, when my wife and i came back from a mission in thailand, we were anointed to donate an infocus projector to the thai local church - so that they can screen nice biblical cartoons to the children in the villages. and yes, the children loves it ! -
Overseas Christian missions, para-church organisations, your home church, christian bible translation agencies....etc.
so long as it is used in God's kingdom -
For me, I tithe to my own church. Sometimes, I drop offerings in the offerings bags. If you wish to donate to other charity organisation, you may do so. But as one of our fellow brother have suggested, it's better that you pray about it and seek God's way.

Nothing wrong with the BB It's our annual fund raising, BB Week. We are a charity organisation and run our actitivies with donated funds.
I am entering into a next stage of life which takes my time away from the PC. But all is well, and GOOD! -
you should keep the bonus for old age or buy xbox 360 .

We do organise actitivities for charity organisations during President's Challenge and our Sharity Gift Box project annually though I am not sure if COH is one of the recipients or parties involved. yup...The Boys' Brigade, Salvation Army, Radio Bible Class (RBC) ministries, Singapore Bible Society's Bike for Bibles....many ways your money can be used to blessed others and extend His Kingdom
