Another question out of curiosity? I was told by some of my RC friends that there were instances whereby the Eucharist actually turned into the Body & Blood of Christ. How true is that?Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:A question.
According to Anglican thought and theology, is the Eucharist the Body and Blood of Christ or not? There seems to be a large disparity between High and Low Churches..
P.S If you still don't know what High and Low means, please refer to the other thread...
that would have been really gross. might be accused of cannabalism by some quarters.Originally posted by babyys:Another question out of curiosity? I was told by some of my RC friends that there were instances whereby the Eucharist actually turned into the Body & Blood of Christ. How true is that?

actually... CE is not imagining things, there really are some who did accuse this believe as cannibalism, the reason being, the teaching of the bread and wine turning into the body and blood of Christ, hence partaking them is equivalent to cannibalismOriginally posted by babyys:Wahahah.....u have some imagination there!!!
apparently the doctrine of transubstantiation was repudiated by them a long time ago...Originally posted by sillyme:I was taught that they are. What are the reasons given that they are not?

hahaha, so much for 'semper reformanda'....Originally posted by NT2:for denominations like anglicans, methodists there are official documents to pen down all issues pertaining to teachings and doctrines r easier to control but then nowadays even denominations start to disagree and change their own teachings haizzz

hmm....that is a tough qn because in singapore i dun see any anglo-catholic parishes. you might want to post your question at the website:Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:so how come Canterbury is not clamping down on Anglo-Catholicism, when seem to be in dissent from your 39 articles...
The Archbishop of Canterbury does not hold the power as the Roman papacy has. He dun clamp down things that is not in congruence with the mainstream Anglicanism. Infact the diocese in singapore has very little ties with the archbishop of canterbury and is autonomous by nature.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:so how come Canterbury is not clamping down on Anglo-Catholicism, when seem to be in dissent from your 39 articles...

whats your opinion on them? are they heretics like us catholics?Originally posted by NT2:haha i not in england leh...
infact the are many remnants of RC in anglicanism. the liturgy and episcopal traditions are some what similar. but the emphasis and practices may not be. anglo-catholics may do things that seemed like they r RCs but closer look the emphasis is different and they do not come under the Holy See.
