Good Friday/Easter

since Good Friday and Easter is coming, something dawn on me, which is the verse above, what does Jesus means when He said "the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth", does He means between Crucifixion and Resurrection, there is to be 3 days and 3 nights?
Matt 12:40 (KJV)
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
If this is correct, then between Friday (Good Friday) and Sunday (Easter Sunday) at most only 3 days/2nights (and if start from when Jesus gave up His spirit, then its only 2days/2nights).
So, is it suspose to be Good Thursday/Easter Sunday? or Good Friday/Easter Monday?
The other considerations, I know of is that the arrest was done on the night that Jesus had just celebrated the passover and insituted the Lord's Supper. and the day after Crucifixion is a Sabbath.
Anyone with some thoughts on this?
Note: I am not trying to debate whether to celebrate Good Friday/Easter Sunday, I am just trying to bring up something which I feel is rather interesting. -
Jewish culture see a sunset as the beginning of a new day.
when Jesus died after being crucified on the cross. that itself being at the ninth hour (3pm) and consider one day.Few hours later, the sunset and that is the beginning of a new day until the next day, Saturday evening. Another day and after saturday's evening, a new day is here and there you go another day leading to Sunday morning where he rose again from the dead. 3 days! -

my initial thought is that, it could be Thursday afternoon that Jesus was crucified, then it will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday (3days), Thrusday night, Friday night, Saturday night (3nights), then on Sunday morning He rose again (having completed the 3 days and 3 nights).
then the problem with this is, the next day is a Sabbath (which is tradictional on a Saturday, so Thursday does not seems right) -
yup. the reason y you have this problem is that you try to calculate days according to our style. morning till night means one day. but to the Jews, a new day starts from the evening...for eg. Sabbath in reality begins from Friday Eveninf after sunset.
