Mark chapter 11 regarding the fig tree
what is the significance of the fig tree? (condemnation?)
Mark 11:14 "In response Jesus say to it,'Let no one eat fruit from you eve again'
And His disciples heard it."
Mark 11:21"And Peter, remembering, said to Him, 'Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered away' ".
i really dont get it , why Jesus cursed the tree?
The first question you need to ask is:Why the fig tree? and not any other agricultural elements? The fig tree is regarded as the symbol of the nation of Israel in the Jewish Scripture.
The reason for the event is Jesus' pronouncement that the nation of Israel did not recognise the messiah had already come.
