Is buying the lottery a good way to spend your money?
In your scenario, a person who is unemployed and penniless should not be using his money on the lottery. It is more prudent to save up the money and use it on the neccessities, such as food and lodging.
What are the chances of getting money back from lottery? Mathematically it is very small.
Even if you have sufficient money to spend, there are many other ways to invest your money in. Lottery is not one of them. We must be prudent in our spending. We must use the things we have wisely. And when we are successful in that, then we can bless others. -

Let's dont talk abt idealism. When a man is broke, he will try to gamble out of it. That's mostly the case. Either gamble with his life by robbery, smuggling drugs etc or just buy 4D or toto or big sweep. What can he lose anyway since he has lost everything? Even if it is mathematically very small chance, he will still want to gamble. A bit of money for the jackpot who doesnt want when he is broke.
