Huh .. there is clean and unclean food for the Christians?Originally posted by sgdiehard:As Christians, how far are we prepared to make our voice heard so that the society does not change against our values, if not shaping the soiety with our values? The muslim community has succeeded to a larger extent. Now we have many foodcourts which are selling halal food. Christians can talk till cows come home but we have yet to see a restaurant that sell food that is clean for Christians.
didn't you say stop a few posts ago....? why are you continuing?Originally posted by sgdiehard:This is really getting too far from the main topic. Will stop here.

If I ask you to pray for me am I worshipping you?Originally posted by breytonhartge:You ask a saint to pray for you, but we are told in the bible that we have a mediator that person is Christ. Not the saints. As praying is a form of worship, then by praying to St Valentine, you are worshipping him... and it is clearly stated in the 10 commandments you are to worship the Lord only.
You have thus sinned against God. Even Jesus said in the NT when He was tempted by the devil, you shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve.
You want to be a believer, then Jesus said follow my commandments.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:If I ask you to pray for me am I worshipping you?
agreed! agreed! every other day we are asking our bros & sis in Christ to help pray for us which means we r worshipping them ah? Wat nonsense?Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:If I ask you to pray for me am I worshipping you?
Will you ask a dead friend to pray for you?Originally posted by babyys:agreed! agreed! every other day we are asking our bros & sis in Christ to help pray for us which means we r worshipping them ah? Wat nonsense?
so to say we cannot ask anyone for that matter to interceed for us?
sorry la i BTC (Boh Tak Chek) therefore my engrand power wahahaha....Originally posted by laurence82:intercede
then wat r the saints for? they r also dead wat? like dat everyone can also be saint wat cause no difference.Originally posted by M©+square:Will you ask a dead friend to pray for you?

Then would you educate me on the office and function of saints?Originally posted by babyys:then wat r the saints for? they r also dead wat? like dat everyone can also be saint wat cause no difference.
I would not enlist the prayers of the saints who have been promoted to glory [the ones who died] for God said in His Word:Originally posted by babyys:then wat r the saints for? they r also dead wat? like dat everyone can also be saint wat cause no difference.
Originally posted by Ironside:Hmmm....let me c how should i put it. Wat i'm trying to say is what's wrong with getting someone to intercede for us? Say for example in the Catholic context where they say the "Hail Mary"
I would not enlist the prayers of the saints who have been promoted to glory [the ones who died] for God said in His Word:
Ec 9:5 For the living know that they shall die; [b]but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ec 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
How can i therefore ask their intercessions for me if they cannot even hear me here...............God says: they know nothing of what's going on here.
The first century Christians [including the apostles] understood those words. And so they never ask the dead saints to pray for them. REad it in God's Word in the New Testament. No single soul prayed to the dead saints to pray for them.
However, they enlisted the prayers of the living saints. Read it.
Thanks

Do all who believes in Christ and strive to live a holy life entitled sainthood?
Or only Apostles in the New Testament are entitled to Sainthood.
When does the title 'Saint' cease?
Cheers

Mary is dead, the saints are dead so to say the Catholic doctrine has been all wrong for centuries?

Yup, Mary's dead, the saints are dead.
so what does God say about those who have died?
Ec 9:5 For the living know that they will die; [b]But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.
Ec 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Is Mary dead? are the saints dead? Yes
[Ironside asking God]
"Lord, can Mary and the saints who have departed hear me when i pray"?
".................the dead know nothing." was the reply.
I would advice you my friend to be guided by God's word. You can never go wrong. praying to the dead my friend is divination. It is prohited by God.

On wat grounds have u to say their doctrine is sala? r we to say that the theologians from past centuries have all been learning the wrong thing?Originally posted by breytonhartge:Yes.
this part of the drift started last night, now the debate is into prayers and saintsOriginally posted by Chin Eng:wah! over night the drift is even greater....
I really stopped, this is a drift in a new direction.Originally posted by Chin Eng:wah! over night the drift is even greater....
agree. This was brought up before. Somehow no Protestant can answer whether Luther and Calvin were right or wrong. They just went on and on quoting verses from the bible, trying to sound right.Originally posted by babyys:On wat grounds have u to say their doctrine is sala? r we to say that the theologians from past centuries have all been learning the wrong thing?
Even Luther and John Calvin who were the forefathers to protestanism gave reverence to the Holy Mother. So u mean to say they were also doing the wrong stuff?
