1) Actually my friend, the Lord through Paul exhorted us in the light of the Second Coming of Christ to be sober and be watching for His Second Coming.Originally posted by sgdiehard:Has this thread been a "healthy exchange amongst Christians and non-Christians about Christ's Second Coming"? I hope it has. It is interesting to find ppl like McSquare who would stay faithful to the old rugged cross, love and worship the Lord till end of his days but said he is not a christian, do you think that was enough for Jesus's second coming?
If being in Christ is good enough for Christ's second coming, what preparation do Christians need to do?? or should Christians change our daily living because of the second coming of Christ? If I am 70 years old and believe that Jesus will come after I RIP, then should I live a different life?
Yes. The Lord commands us, be Holy as He is Holy. We are made in God's image, so daily we strive to be more like Him and more like Jesus who is the first born among us. We are heirs to God's kingdom, but do we act or live our lives like heirs? Are we running the race such as to win the prize? Do we forsake all others for God?Originally posted by Ironside:How do i know if i really have this hope in me as a Christian? Answer: Well are we striving after holiness?
This essentially summaries what a Christian should do, and as Paul exhorted us to strive to be holy, to be loving, faithful, hopeful, and be consistent with our new position. All Christians should do that regardless of when Jesus is coming.Originally posted by breytonhartge:Yes. The Lord commands us, be Holy as He is Holy. God knows what we are doing or not doing, our good deeds and lousy jobs even as we are doing it. He does not need to wait till the second coming to find out.
What is it that we really need to be ready?? may be it is more specific to each individual. The Bible says Christians are given different gifts and God expects more from those who are given more. God has plan for each of us individually and if He has a job for each of us individually, then when He comes, He would be expecting things done by us individually.
What would Jesus be expecting to see when He returns?
If He is expecting to see more Christians? there are certainly more Christians now, hope He is happy with the quality and the quantity.
If He is expecting to see churches and Christians loving each other, are the churches ready? I am not sure.
If He is expecting Christians to glorify His name, Christians bearing good witness for Him, is the world holding Christians in high regards? I am not sure.
If He is expecting to see Christians helping the helpless, .....and doing all the good things, are we ready? I am not sure.
God will be happy with each individual Christian as we strive to be holy.... as an individual but as a church, we are just different groups of very pious and religious people fervant in preaching our religion, will He be happy?

Applause....
You've identified the greatest disease in Church which the church could never have seen.
No church will be humble enough to acknowledge that the she is wavering in Seeking After the Heart Of God.
Congrats, you've asked the right question.
Cheers

Actually John your question is about assurance of salvation. If you know you are saved then you know your ready right? But the question is: "how do i know if i am saved?"
John answers us:
1Jo 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
Do you trust in the Lord Jesus alone for salvation? if yes, then you have eternal life. You are ready.
Be aware though that Satan has not changed. He is still a lier and a deciever.
He makes unsaved people think that they are saved and make saved people think that they are unsaved.
So better examine yourself:
1) ARe you trusting in Christ alone for salvation?
2) Are there changes no matter how feeble and small in you?
3) Is there repentance?
KNow also this:
There are three classes of Christians John with respect to assurance of salvation.
1) There is a person who doesn't know that he is saved but is saved. This is due to a faith so feeble and so small. This particular Christian is often beset with fears and doubts regarding salvation. May God comfort and grant this type of Christian full assurance.
2) There is a Christian who is tottering from being sure of being saved to doubting his salvation. One time he is sure he is saved, another he is cringing in fear because of doubts and fears. I belong to this category.
3) There is the fully assured Christian. I envy this Christian. He is usually up there in the ladder of holiness, for full assurance of salvation results in increased holiness. He is the indefatigable worker in the field of evangelism. He is the Christian who does great exploits for our Lord.
REad the biographies of the giants in the faith, they are usually the ones fully assured of their salvation.
i think i belong to category 1, i wanna know if a christian is considered save if he has very little faith. will he be going to heaven? or going to hell as he might be considered not fully saved due to lack of faith.
The spirit and direction of this forum is a decidedly CHRISTIAN one, if you want to come here and cause trouble, I will mod all your posts which I think are inappropriate. This is EH, a Christian forum, from a Christian viewpoint, if you ever try to pull any stunts and try to cause trouble, I will moderate it. I am sick and tired of your stunts lau, consider this your first and FINAL warning.Originally posted by laurence82:Disgusting behaviour really, to edit posts countrary to mods' own views

First of all, did you even read my post properly, all I said was that to pick a muslim to be an antichrist is a no brainer, I did not say that AlMahdi would be THE antichrist.Originally posted by laurence82:When pointed out that the Al Mahdi issue has no basis, with many past and current identifications of the AntiChrists pointed out, you claim its no brainer that Al Mahdi is the Antichrist while stating in another post that you are not making claims. By the way, sillyme has the tendency to close topics particularly when it may incite hate against other faiths, many of these topics tend to be about Islam. Its disturbing that a fellow mod dont take the cue or apply the level of maturity required.
As I have already predicted back then, your style would be contrary to the spirit of discussion, by attempting to moderate others on unsupported basis that they are troublemakers. This forum will then become like the other Christian forum, where Huaiqing, the founder, attempts to edit forumers' post because they disagree, and with tonnes of evidence for backup, on his view that Catholics are not followers of Christ.
Way back then, I have already stated that three people, ie, Chin Eng, MCsquare, and Icemoon have every ability to contribute by being mods, mainly because they know the Christian scripture well, and more importantly, they understand and have shown what the is the spirit of discussion.
Its my only regret right people arent available for the right job, possibly at the right time.
My advice, reflect on your personal biasness and inconsistency.
PS: In forums, character assasination have been the contemporary style for retaliation once people find themselves unsupported in their argument. This include calling people 'troublemakers'. 'gay', 'idiot' and many others labels. I seen many of such things happening to people, therefore, I am immune to such labels.

The muslims consider Jesus to be one of their prophets, but to a Christian, He, Yeshua is the saviour of the world. The muslims preach that there will be another saviour, one they call the al mahdi, this is a contrary gospel to one that even Jesus himself preached when He was here, Jesus said that He would come back again. So therefore any contrary gospel to the one that Jeuss preached is antichrist. Therefore Muslim = Antichrist. FYI, Jesus is a JEW. The jews are half brothers to the arabs.Originally posted by laurence82:Past examples have shown evidence to the contrary. Another fallacious remark from you this time. How would a Muslim = Antichrist, when Christ is regarded as one of their prophets? Antichristian, yes, but antichrist? Do you then, call him a Muslim then? I wouldnt mind if you call him an Iranian for example, but a Muslim?
