I have one at home. And when I went to the Lutheran Church that time, I got nothing to do so just flip their hymnal book and viola .. it is the 'Lutheran' version!Originally posted by Ironside:i dont know actually...........how come your so familiar about these things?
Yeah, i guess so..........i saw once a Methodist Hymnal.......basically the same hymnsOriginally posted by Icemoon:I have one at home. And when I went to the Lutheran Church that time, I got nothing to do so just flip their hymnal book and viola .. it is the 'Lutheran' version!
So I now guessing whether there are Anglican, Methodist and Presybterian versions as well?
It'll be fun comparing the different versions. I wonder how are the hymns inside "canonized" for the different denominations?Originally posted by Ironside:Yeah, i guess so..........i saw once a Methodist Hymnal.......basically the same hymns
waw!!!!!!! you've been everywhere Icemoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally posted by Icemoon:Where is SGMacross?
Do you guys have a hymnal book? 'cos I only remember the Missal book when I went to church.
We do. It's normally with the hymnals, unless the Church prints the hymns and readings on sheets of paper. But at my church there are both missals and hymnals. What else would you like to know?Originally posted by Icemoon:Where is SGMacross?

Charismatic (CHC, NCC, FCBC, Hope) .. Bible-Presybterian .. and some churches dunno what denomination one.Originally posted by Ironside:waw!!!!!!! you've been everywhere Icemoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been to Lutheran.......Catholic.............where else?
You mean you've been to a Jewish synagogue too?Originally posted by Icemoon:Charismatic (CHC, NCC, FCBC, Hope) .. Bible-Presybterian .. and some churches dunno what denomination one.
But hey .. let me tell you .. a Lutheran Church is damn cool 'cos it reminds me somehow of the Jewish synagogue.
I was barred entry that time 'cos of security. The furthest I went was outside their door but inside the gate. And damn .. did I tell you the security guard was Roman Catholic?Originally posted by Ironside:You mean you've been to a Jewish synagogue too?
really everywhere huh?
You do this out curiosity my friend or some kind of a research project or something?Originally posted by Icemoon:I was barred entry that time 'cos of security. The furthest I went was outside their door but inside the gate. And damn .. did I tell you the security guard was Roman Catholic?
I said Lutheran Church reminds me of synagogue 'cos the latter has a sanctuary (or dunno what you call it) .. the box/enclosure in the middle where I presume the Torah would be read. And the Lutheran Church has it! Except the box is in front. Note this box is not the pulpit. Cool!
Curiousity. Since a synagogue is right at our doorstep (sg is small country you see .. ) .. why not go in and see see?Originally posted by Ironside:You do this out curiosity my friend or some kind of a research project or something?
Yeah, it's a beautiful country...........my mom with my sis went on vacation there just this year. Next time, maybe i'll tag along.Originally posted by Icemoon:Curiousity. Since a synagogue is right at our doorstep (sg is small country you see .. ) .. why not go in and see see?

err.... i goto clear a misconception bout charismatic churches. Not all charismatic churches "miss out a lot" on hymms. Some still retain the traditions to a certain degree. Take for example COSB (Church of Singapore), tho they may be charismatic but they still sing hymns during their praise & worship services. In fact they have a compiled list of hymns.Originally posted by Icemoon:Personally I feel the hymnal book is a priceless gem. Those more charismatic churches pple are missing out a lot.
Actually I was a bit surprised when I discovered that time (while in a Lutheran Church) Protestants actually have different hymnal books. Hmm ..
Yeah FAnny Cosby...........................Fanny is not great because she composed more or less 8,000 hymns.........rather she is great because she composed 8,000 hymns being blind.Originally posted by fandango:Fanny Crosby.
