How does God speak to his people?

Somewhat similar to a previous post, how does God communicate with his believers? Maybe through a dream like Joseph? Or by a vision as claimed by some individuals?

He speaks through the Bible which is interpreted by the Church that Christ established on earth. He has spoken through the prophets, the apostles and even in the people around you.

And in certain situation, it's also done so through the Holy Spirit or a vision during a prayer.

The thing is, how can a Christian have a relationship with him when he can't even hear God speak?

There are many ways which God speak to his people. The most common way is to send a messenger to help preach about God's words. Another way is through the help of books written by enlightened souls.
however, the most accurate way to receive God's words, is to link up and listen directly to him. -

This is something I have some problem accepting, how can I be sure the message from a sinner mortal like myself be accurate? When I say this, I mean no offense, neither is it flame bait, be gentle please. Somehow in my mind, the modern day pastors seem to be like the teachers of the law in Jesus' day and along with that reputation of their predeccessors. Again, peace, dont flame. Unpopular teachings does not have to be false or wrong. Truth definitely does not depend on what you like to hear and accept.

The Truth is something which has been muddled, distorted and mixed.
