Icy, the term "the Lost tribes" of israel is a popular term. When they say that, they refer to those tribes who were lost during their exile in Assyria.Originally posted by Icemoon:come on .. i waiting for your explanation of James 1:1.
the point is moot right?Originally posted by Ironside:they were indeed lost. those 10 tribes who were exiled to Assyria.
technically the those who reside in the land were called Israel, because they were inhabitants of Israel actually. the 10 and the 2 are called Israel.
the 10 tribes or the northern tribe was taken captive by the Assyrian empire. they were exiled there. From there they got scatttered and that's where they got lost.you never tell the whole story.
The souther tribe Judah and Benjamin was taken captive to Babylon some 7o years later.
When the returned 70 years later, they returned to their land, and these became the inhabitants of Judah- they were called Jews during the Lord's time.
Babylon is an equally attractive place for some of them to get "lost".Originally posted by Ironside:Icy, the term "the Lost tribes" of israel is a popular term. When they say that, they refer to those tribes who were lost during their exile in Assyria.
I don't know, personal opinion is that they are originally born under the house of Egypt and not the house of Israel, so Jacob may have thought that by adopting them, he can bring them in under the house of Israel?Originally posted by Icemoon:
God's promise is to the patriarchical lineage. Not all the wives are of Abraham's blood anyway. So it doesn't matter Joseph's wife is Egyptian.
err. the goal post was shifted way before this... this is a thread for Bible Trivia, can start a new thread on lost tribe instead?Originally posted by Icemoon:this is shifting the goalpost.
we were discussing about lost tribes, not when the exile happened.
I've demonstrated the mini exodus of the 10 northern tribes into Judah. What say you?

so Abram is Lot's uncles
Genesis 11:31
Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.
Genesis 13:8here Abram call Lot (his nephew) brothers....
So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.
In ancient Middle East, inheritance rights are usually passed from father to son but they can also be passed from father to grandson, or from father to son-in-law. As a side issue, one example of the latter was when Jacob and Rachal fled from Laban, Rachal stole the household gods, which caused Laban to chase after them all through the night. Archaeological evidence suggests that these household gods (tÂ’rafim) are used as the token of inheritance which can be passed from father to son usually but also to the son-in-law in the event that there are no surviving sons.Originally posted by Ironside:i don't understand.......Manasseh and Ephraim were biological sons of Joseph
