Infant Baptism is for infants in Catholic families. Normal Baptism for converts of other ages.
Catholic kids usually have their First Holy Communion at Primary Five, with their First Confession at Primary Four (I think?). -

Our church has a small baptism pool. The way it's done is that the priest will lower us backwards into the pool. When the candidate is immersed he will then help us up.
The whole thing makes one feel 'washed' literally and spiritually and that was how I felt.

biblical justification ? hrmmm... i dont think in the bible, the Lord recorded what is a right way to be submerged. Our church believe that back first - symbolize and is also an act of full surrender of our body, mind, soul and spirit to the Lord - to be cleansed of our sins and seeking repentence.Originally posted by Icemoon:what is the biblical justification for back first submergence?

It is rather a demonstration of our "desire" to surrender ourselves in the name of Jesus and upon full trust of his yoke upon baptism. However, the act alone does not make you right with God if your heart aint right even at the point of baptism or after.
There are many practices, some baptise face first, some sprinkling, some go to the sea etc etc etc. No matter what form - dip down or half submerge or sprinkling - it is your personal commune with the Lord in Baptism - which basically is an important ritual of restoration and dying to the old self.
i rather focus on what the Bible did say and not try to decipher too much into what it did not say. -

It seems we have much in common, a lack of sympathy for the suffering included! I hope you're proud of all the misery you've caused. Oh, sure, the hypocrites who laud you will definitely jump to your defense, but I've said what I wanted to.
