Why re there no Malay Christians?

I noticed that Christians in Singapore are mainly Chinese, with some Indians and Ang-Mohs.
How come got no Malays?
Is it because no evangelism? Because against the law? Because Malay culture incompatible with Christianity? Because Islam is more attractive to Malays?
Or is it Christians don't care? I have never heard any christian pray for the souls of the Malays........yah, they pray for All the lost souls.......but I doubt if they consciously include this particular people in their minds................. -
there are... my neighbour is one of them... we live harmoniously... and i like christmas
its quite rare lah... -
I think this actually depends on the country laws...
my friend in Indonesia.. are javanese, sundanese and other indonesian native malay ethnics.. but some of them r catholics/christians.. -

a) The Malay Muslim community is a tight knitted community, so any conversion is a family or community issue
b) The laws have never forbid conversion, not even in Malaysia or Indonesia, but is much advised against. Again, look at point A
c) Middle Eastern issues, and much angst against Christians. It not whether they are wrong or right, just that its a sensitive issue when it comes to Christianity and their misgivings -

Mod asked purpose of thsi thread=don't worry lah, nothing sinister......I wanted a reason why this fact is so, why is there no malay christians, malay buddhists, or even malay hindus? A sociological question which should not be ignored.
I am not condemning anyone when I said Christians don't think of malays when they pray for the souls of all mankind.......I apologise if I had offended anyone. -
There is actually no need to take upon a new belief, because Christianity is inclusive into Islam - that you are already our siblings for heaven. Again, essentially Muslims believe in the relevations sent down sent before Prophet Muhammad as well. Of course though somebody would point out the conflicting stance Muslims hold that the Bible is legitimate but had been made changes. Soooooo... the injunction to that is to work within the framework of each of our religion.

Malay Christians???? Got such thing meh?
Malays were the first Muslim converts in Southeast Asia (circa 10th century). They have adopted the Islamic faith exclusively - to be a Malay is to be a Muslim. Malays view Islam as a celebration of the greatness and mercy of Allah, and their joyful, vibrant culture reflects this.

Just like what others have said, there are Malays who are Christians, Buddhists etc. If there aren't, the term "Malay-Muslim" wouldn't have been coined.
Why they are rare? They account for only 1% of the total Malay population in Singapore, and they lead a low-profile life. -
There is a social stigma if you're a Malay Christian, I suppose?

There are but its very small. the last I heard from my pastor is that it is a number of around 2000 strong malay christian community in Singapore and one of the leaders in that community is an army officer, i think a LTC or what....not sure abt that but quite sure abt that number...

yes it is but it is not so bad as in Muslim countries like the Middle East. You can read abt such a testimony of a Pakistani Girl who had to flee from her own family and country to save her own life because she became a christian. In Singapore, there still is a stigma attached to it but we generally are a more accepting society that the stigma does not veered towards violence. I had a female Malay Convert tht came to spoke to us in our church. It is not easy but they stand by their choice. -
While Indonesia is predominatly Muslim, there is a significant number of Christians.
You can tell by the violence in Sulawesi alone. One of the reason Bali is targeted by terrorists because its a stubborn Hindu enclave in the middle of Muslim majority - ST article.
So not much abt the religius mix of people in Indonesia too. -
