no we dun call them Father. we call then Reverend.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Are the Anglican Priests addressed as Father?
I am still wondering why in the movie The Sign, Mel Gibson (a retired church minister who was married) was known as Father throughout the movie.
Then Mel Gibson's role in The Sign is what denomination? I really wonder. Cuz I watched with a non Christian friend who knew little about Christianity and denominations. He started asking whether Mel Gibson's role is a Catholic Priest. My answer is no..... We all know Catholic Priests dun get married one mah. But in the movie, he had a wife and a kid. The wife died in an accident so he was very sad & he quitted from his church ministry. But the town ppl still called him Father.Originally posted by NT2:no we dun call them Father. we call then Reverend.

Hmm .. going by protocol .. the counterpart of the Pope is the Monarch of England right?Originally posted by NT2:tt could be anglo-catholic. anglicans but most practice r still RC.
actually the ties between anglicanism n RC r complicated at times.
But this is tricky. The Queen of England being the head of the Church of England, rather than Archbishop of Canterbury. Its aas if the Anglicans pledge loyalty to England.Originally posted by Icemoon:Hmm .. going by protocol .. the counterpart of the Pope is the Monarch of England right?
So the Archbishop of Cantebury see the Pope also must salute?
In the movie Signs Mel Gibson's chracther Rev. Graham Hess is supposed to be an Episcopal priest.

The singapore anglican church (Diocese of Singapore) and also the churches of this region (Province of SE Asia) have openly declared breaking of communion with the deviant diocese and all those dioceses in favor of the consecration of homosexual bishop ( generally term as Episcopal Church of United States of America, ECUSA)Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:Yes.

I think there's a kind of church episcopal hymn. Like the famous one played by the Titanic before she sank.

Reading the document, it looks like excommunication or anathema to me.

read the letter again...unless they repent and turn their back against the homosexual way of life the ECUSA will not be considered as part of the worldwide anglican communion.
wah .. then they don't report to the archbishop of cantebury and the queen? do they have their own big boss?Originally posted by NT2:they share same meaning. but for political reasons.. USA wont call their church anglican mah...so like tt lot
yes yes .. i dunno why they call it episcopal hymn?Originally posted by NT2:Nearer My God To Thee?
hmmm the anglican denomination is quite hard to describe. we r under the See of Canterbury and we accept the Archbishop of Canterbury(ABC) as the Primate aka 'First among equals' (there r many of these weird and cheem angmoh terms in anglicanism) and a tool of unity. But, in the case of Diocese of Singapore for eg....we recognise our Bishop's leadership and Archbishop of the Province of SE Asia leadership more than we have ties with the ABC.Originally posted by Icemoon:wah .. then they don't report to the archbishop of cantebury and the queen? do they have their own big boss?
