But I think Elders and Pastors are of different orders.... ie Elders don't get promoted to become Pastors. Cuz from what I know, when a person is trained from Bible College, he/she will serve in church as a Pastor straight away.
As for Elders, those that I saw in the church, they are not that young whereas the newly appointed Pastor that I knew was in her 20s only. -

Pastors in the strictest sense r pastoral workers who can be both male and female and are not ordained. They r simply trained in seminaries and equipped with some ministry skills.
Nowadays even those ordained call themselves Pastors..so there you go the double meaning of pastors.
I am still wondering why in the movie The Sign, Mel Gibson (a retired church minister who was married) was known as Father throughout the movie. -

I think grads of bible college are called chuan dao .. but if they're not recognised by other people they cannot be called mu4 shi1. -

I know for some the position of pastors or priests doesnt matter, but you wouldnt want to get the role of the priests mistaken if the meaning get lost in translation.

Churches of same denominations should function the same way, since they report to the same head. So it should be denomination based. -
