Questions about Christianity...

1) not all christians speak in tongues, those that do speaks thru the help of the Holy Spirit.speaking in tongues is a sign that u are baptised in the Holy Spirit, not in some trance or wad so ever its just a gift that God gives u. christians speak in tongues because, tongues is a special language which God give u and so devil do not know wad u are trying to say to God. u see, devil will try every opportunity to bring u down, even when u are pryaing he is listening to wad u are praying abt and so try to bring u down in anything n everything he can do. speaking in tongues is also to allow the Holy Spirit to help u to pray in a sense, its like the Holy Spirit willl help u speak to God in areas u may not pray abt. there's a verse in the bible which says this, if u wan tell me i find for u.Originally posted by James1:1) Why do Christian speaks in tongue?

2)sorry cant help u on this one im not that wise.but my personal opinion is that generally ppl tend to view catholics as more conservative. perhaps the biggest difference is that catholics conduct mass and christian conduct services?
3)by giving thanks to God, u are acknowledging His Goodness in your life.tink abt it, if u believe, everything in this world ultimately belong to God. thats why u wan to give thanks to Him for every good thing in your life. if someone gives u something good its natural that u thank that person? in fact, u shld even thank God for the job u have that u are able to afford meals to satisfy your needs.
4) Jesus defeated the devil when He rose from the dead. if thats wad u're asking. by doing so, He showed the triumph over evil and death. defeated is one thing, but the devil still lives because of human's corrupted nature.

Would be safe to say then that all good things come from God and certain trials in our life also come from God? -
Sometimes it would be a lose lose situation trying to find the right words to use. I would think God allows seemingly bad things to happen to us. It may not come from Him, but He allowed it. The way some pastors "condemn" the Catholics .. we wonder whether they really understood the Catholic's position or not.
Exchange of views and debate is the way to grow. Teaches you to be humble too, even in adult sunday school when your views occassionally gets challenged. -
This is related to the problem of evil. I think this is also one of the biggest challenges to the Christian worldview.
The Buddhist worldview, on the other hand, does not have much of a problem with this. -

Surprisingly Catholics don't swear to creationism and throw out evolution while Protestants don't preach the contraceptive ban. -
I fully agree with your note. My point was made because regardless of what answers we give the thread starter seem to be of the impression that his questions were not answered.
