wat does eating the food has anything to do with superstition ?Originally posted by Icemoon:You can see it in many ways.
1. They don't live under grace; they live under law.
2. They dun want to associate themselves with superstitions which Christianity is against. Like you are born again, so you want to detach yourself from your "old traditions".
It is not about the food. It is about where the food is found.Originally posted by crazy monkey:wat does eating the food has anything to do with superstition ?

ya lor then why some christians are so particular abt it ?Originally posted by iveco:I eat food my uncle's family offered to his forefathers. Anything wrong with that? If you don't believe that it has been touched by spirits, it is perfectly fine.
so if christians behave that have they deviate from christian teachings ?Originally posted by laurence82:What you got to fear, is fear itself.
There is a big difference between having the mannerisms, and practising one faith.
If you believe in god, why fear other things?
Nope that wasnt what i meant.Originally posted by crazy monkey:so if christians behave that have they deviate from christian teachings ?
is the fear irrational then ?Originally posted by laurence82:Nope that wasnt what i meant.
Yesh. For example, for the love of money is the root of all evil. Money itself isnt evil, neither does it symbolise evil or greed. Its human thoughts and actions which put money to its potential evil uses.Originally posted by crazy monkey:is the fear irrational then ?
I am free thinker ley... whatever supersitions I also dun care one... but still I cannot bring myself to eat it...Originally posted by mistyblue:Some people just let their fears and own supersition get to them and make false claims that any food offered to gods/ancestors... they cannot touch and eating them makes them sick or less faithful to their own religion. Its utter rubbish. Then all Xtians and Catholics who eat Malay food better watch out since their food are halal. Lots of people like to set some funny rules and live by them making life difficult for others.
Hhmmm... you should relac ley... I only say I cannot eat the food mah... wats wrong with I cannot bring myself to eat... I never say every one should not eat or anything... anyway I fast when there is such food... but the food is not wasted ley... my family got eat wat...Originally posted by mistyblue:You make your own life difficult by thinking that the food makes you feel sick .. what your mind thinks becomes true.
I am a free thinker and i do not care about what happens to the food as long I know someone took the effort to prepare it for me. There are lots of people out there who do not have access to food and others do not have money to buy any good food and here's people who refused food cause of their own mental block.
So what's wrong with you to interprete everything in your context?
I agree... depends on quite a number of factors... but Jesus already made it clear in the bible that it is not what goes into a man that makes him unclean, but what comes out of his mouth for out of the abundance of his heart a person will speak!Originally posted by NT2:Yes n No
depends on ur understanding n the situation.
I eat. It's just food.Originally posted by crazy monkey:as above.
