Does the church recognise divorce or remarriage ?

  The Church law states that those who have a civil divorce may not remarry until their sacramental marriage is annulled. Annulment takes place only with valid reasons. It is not a divorce. It simply means that the sacramental marriage was not valid in the first place. The process of annulment is subject to the investigation by the Marriage Tribunal of the Church.
  
  Those who have had a civil divorce, may not have their sacramental marriage annulled if it was valid. They are not permitted to remarry in the Church.
  
  If you are widowed, you may remarry.

  The church will continue to recognise the sanctity of marriage. The church also recognises that sometimes things can go wrong. Acceptance of a couple who remarried does not necessary mean that the church agrees to the concept of divorce and remarrying. Likewise, the church discourages marrying non-Christians but will not turn away one who has married a non-Christian.
