Differences between protestant denominations?

  This was so ironical. Prior to that, he defended the Catholic Church against the Protestants reformation. The Church gave him the title "Defendant of Faith". Much later, he broke away from the church for the reason you mentioned. He threw away all the Catholic Traditions. It was his daughter Queen Elizabeth, a Protestant, who brought the traditions back when she decided to merge the two denominations. This gave us the Anglican Church that we have today.

  i personally don't think we should get so caught up with denominations of churches. We all pray to the same God rite?
  
  But i do recognise that certain denominations have different doctrines, such as maybe Catholics, who pray through Mother Mary.
  
  But other than that, the only difference between a Baptist or Methodist or Presbyterian or whatever, is the way the church is run. Like maybe with the Baptists, the Pastor is the head of the church, but they have deacons in leadership.
  
  But sure, each denomination may have started off differently, but if they all point to the same God, i don't think we should get so caught up with denominations...

  Yes, dont just focus on the diffs, but focus on the similarities. Focus on the Cross of Calvary. Focus on Jesus Christ. Focus on God.

  Why do we need an answer for these diffs? I dont think anyone on earth now could give an answer bcos of the hundreds of yrs of history of formation. It's almost fixed in ppl's minds (or u can say brainwashed). It could take many gens to overcome this historical burden if we still have time on earth. Even racial & religious & social class & political probs etc can never be resolved until Christ comes back. Dont confuse yourself. Dont lose focus.

  One, you would want to know you are not straying from the path.
  
  Two, i am sure peeps like Martin Luther are more knowledgeable than you are. You might want to know why the heck they wouldnt want to stay with the RC, or with others.
  
  Three, its bad enough, that as each denomination or church pop up, people are giving themselves self reassurance that what they do is right. Its bad enough you got peeps who can act god and know the reason for the earthquake in pakistan, it worse when people think that wealth is health is a ok.

  Will Christians ever "overcome this historical burden"?? We see more and more new denominations now, more small independent churches, and there will be more and more in the future.
  
  Isn't there only one God? one Salvation? are Christians not given only the commandments to love God and to love thy neigbors? din Jesus give only one commission, to preach the gospel? are Christians not supposed to worship God in one and only way, in spirit and in truth? then why so many different denominations??
  
  Is it good to have so many denomiations, may be yes, for the Gospel is then preached to diff ppl in diff ways in diff places, BUT, if there is a need for all Christians to be united, will this ever happen?? if the anwer is NO, then different denominations is nothing but a division of the body of Christ.
  
  The answer to the question is clear, many Christians put "ME" first before God. My way of worship is more acceptable to God, my way of running the church will bring in more believers, my method of preaching will convert more unbelievers, my church lift up my spirit everytime I worship, .......
  
  I agree we should not lose focus, but don't forget the history and the root of the problem. This is for the Christians, espcially those church leaders to ponder on, and this has nothing to do with non believers.

  God reveals certain new truths in the bible along the way much like reformation of the church w/c Luther did. The RC is correct but God will keep revealing new truths in the bible. Anyway, the RC kept the bible from the masses keeping them in the dark abt certain doctrines last time & Luther & so many others b4 him translated the bible to readable langs by the masses. All the various doctrines r in the bible already but it could just be misinterpreted or suppressed or not read at all.
  
  I also disagree with so many denominations myself & I hurt when i see Christians so divisive among themselves. My stand is also wealth & health is NOT OK when ppl use them to satisfy their covetousness & pleasure. God gave us wealth to help ppl in need. God gave us health so that we can work to support our families & enjoy His fellowship.

  i might disagree with some of the catholic church's teachings, but such division among the protestants, and the dwindling of mainstream protestant populations to numerous new churches, keep the protestant hordes from being united and overthrow the pope, and become a bigger menace....

  Pardon me, but the different denominations, with each their own way of intepreting god's words, sounds to me as if they are trying to say, collectively, god is being cheeky and said different stuff to each guy, including joseph smith, to make a sport out of them.
