When I was baptised, it was my mother's ideas because I have reached a certain age to be baptised. I was rather ignorant at that time, (though I was all along in Sunday school). I forget how I felt at that time -> whether I have faith in Him or whether I just do it because my mother asked me. But I can say now that I truely have faith in Him and I am confident this will be so for the rest of my life. However, I a bit worry if I did not re-baptise, will I be saved?Originally posted by mach10:First, you must understand the meaning of baptism- Act of public witness that you are a believer of Jesus Christ, repented and start a new life with Him.
Knowledge of Him and Faith in Him is two different thing.
if having baptised means telling others that you know God through and through, then i tink everyone would have baptised in vain.
Unless you are saying that you are baptised in a occultic environment, or extremist environment. than tts a different story...
In that case, must a backslider be re-baptised?Originally posted by mach10:First, you must understand the meaning of baptism- Act of public witness that you are a believer of Jesus Christ, repented and start a new life with Him.

No need.Originally posted by godislove:I have another question. If the believer during baptism time have not really understood what baptism is all about, should that believer be re-baptised?
So did you mean that once you have decided to baptise, it shall be once, no matter if you have backslide, sin, ro whatsoever? Just say the prayer of the sinner and God will accept you into His kingdom?Originally posted by M©+square:No need.

How to renew? By studying and practices God's words?Originally posted by Kuali Baba:You don't need to be re-baptised, but you can renew your baptismal promises.
u do not need to be baptised againOriginally posted by godislove:I have another question. If the believer during baptism time have not really understood what baptism is all about, should that believer be re-baptised?

one baptism is enuff
But if baptism is not important, why do you think Jesus went through it?Originally posted by mach10:You can rebaptised a thousand times... but still not saved.
Salvation is by grace and through faith. not through baptism.
Baptism one time can liao. Coz its a form of witness, not salvation.
He needed a ritual, or simply an event, for the voice in heaven to declare, "this is my Son .. "Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:But if baptism is not important, why do you think Jesus went through it?
rofl.... actually it was the Jewish law of purification or something.Originally posted by Icemoon:He needed a ritual, or simply an event, for the voice in heaven to declare, "this is my Son .. "

Hmm...Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:rofl.... actually it was the Jewish law of purification or something.
On the other hand, the point I'm trying to state is that Christian baptism is not merely a witnessing. It is necessary for salvation, and not merely an outward sign.
