What about Divine Love?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:The highest love is Unconditional Love. All differences dissolve in unconditional love.
You still love your Buddhist friends... your Muslim friends... etc.
IMHO, Divine Love = Unconditional love. To ALL.Originally posted by shade343:What about Divine Love?
Di Zhang Wang Pu Sa, Pu Sa = Bodhisattva, not yet a Buddha. He vowed to empty the hells before he attains Buddhahood (Di Yu Bu Kong, Shi Bu Cheng Fo)Originally posted by Icemoon:I start first.
We see in Buddhism, how Dizhang Wang (some call him Dizhang Buddha?!) volunteered to go hell 'cos if he didn't, who will?
Also, Guanyin missed her chance to become Buddha 'cos she wanted to help mankind in their salvation.
How are these different from Jesus dying on the cross?
When didn't Guanyin become a Buddha then? He vowed to pu du zhong sheng issit?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Di Zhang Wang Pu Sa, Pu Sa = Bodhisattva, not yet a Buddha. He vowed to empty the hells before he attains Buddhahood (Di Yu Bu Kong, Shi Bu Cheng Fo)
You can say so. The reason why Bodhisattvas can do this is because they have not even subtle discriminations over Samsara and Nirvana, and has unconditional love for all. Guan Yin treats Samsara as his home.Originally posted by Icemoon:When didn't Guanyin become a Buddha then? He vowed to pu du zhong sheng issit?

In Christianity, there is Love. But the same Love cannot be divorced from Truth. Many Christians do not recognise that.Originally posted by Icemoon:The non believers argue that all orthodox religions teach love. We have heard how Christians like to claim GOD is love and indeed, in the Bible, we seen many times the word love (and all its variant like agape in Greek) is used.
So how is love in Christianity different from love in other religions? For example, Buddhism talks about compassion, so how's this different from the Christian love? And is love emphasized in Taoism? Blah blah ..
Everyone is welcome to contribute, regardless of his/her faith. Those with no faith (like SIS) can also discuss from the point of secular humanism.
Samsara is everywhere in this world.Originally posted by Icemoon:na bei samsara .. christy chung and RA
oh .. samsara is where some of u pple like to chiong also right?
I'm glad you treat Guan Yin as a male. (bet u said they have no gender)
Samsara got many branches in the world?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Samsara is everywhere in this world.
In Tibet, Avalokitesvara is Male. In China, it is Female. In Dharmadatu, it is Neither.
Anywhere where sentient beings like us live is considered Samsara. In Buddhism, even Heaven is still part of Samsara.Originally posted by Icemoon:Samsara got many branches in the world?
In China .. it is male .. read Feng Shen Yan Yi. I think all the Boddhisativa (sp?) inside are males? Wen Zhu .. Pu Xian .. ?
Why so many bloody edits.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Anywhere where sentient beings like us live is considered Samsara. In Buddhism, even Heaven is still part of Samsara.
That book is not a Buddhist book, more like a Chinese Mythology book. Anyway, Bodhisattvas in China often have a feminine depiction unlike Tibet.
This sutra states the different manifests of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, the part starting with "Endless Intention Bodhisattva addressed the Buddha, saying, "World Honored One. Why does Observer of the World's Sounds Bodhisattva roam about in this Sahaa World? Why does he speak Dharma for beings? And what is the extent of the power of his skillful means?"
BTW, is it rude to be discussing Buddhist things in this forum? It's ok for me to discuss anywhere but I don't know how the moderators feel. I think it's better for me to stop discussing it here.
Sorry about that I'm a very careless writer.Originally posted by M©+square:Why so many bloody edits.
What do you understand about Love then?Originally posted by bluewinged:1 Corinthians 13:4-7 --- 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
