Protestant christians really puzzle me. They love to take everything from the bible at face value.Originally posted by Icemoon:To you no idol is not worth praying. cos you believe in many gods. I hope you understand Protestant xtians see it differently.
Not really. Miracles are just to draw people to the word of Christ. Once people read about christ, they will find out that it is not such a big deal. Its the teachings of the bible that are more important than the miracles.Originally posted by laurence82:Which part?
Anyway, the idea many christians give me here, is that miracles are quiessential part of christianity...
Psychics as in those who can predict the future. Telepathy. People who can move objects without physical contact with it. Etc etc...Originally posted by sillyme:Psychics maybe too general a term? Or are you talking about prophets in church context?
As for faith healers. I believe God can heal. But one shouldn't be blind to refuse scientific medical help.
Medicine Buddha.Originally posted by YummyGummy:A sage once told a friend of mine who has cerebral palsy that when god and Medicine come together as one he will be cured
Disgusting, but nvm...Originally posted by shade343:Not really. Miracles are just to draw people to the word of Christ. Once people read about christ, they will find out that it is not such a big deal. Its the teachings of the bible that are more important than the miracles.

Abt the part where one lure others to christianity by using miracles, and to find out afterwards its not important...Originally posted by shade343:Huh? what disgusting?
But Miracles are not really Important what. Its the teachings taht are far more important. Without miracles, people will not be motivated to hear the teachings. Miracles also happen in all form of religions. As long as the church/temple/shrine or place of worship does good and right things, miracles will occur there.Originally posted by laurence82:Abt the part where one lure others to christianity by using miracles, and to find out afterwards its not important...
To me, i dont atribute miracle solely to act of godOriginally posted by shade343:Btw, miracles are an act of God....
Thats something called Karma liao...no doubt its still an act of god.Originally posted by laurence82:To me, i dont atribute miracle solely to act of god
btw, in law, act of god also means natural disasters and freak acccidents....
Do u really understand karma?Originally posted by shade343:Thats something called Karma liao...no doubt its still an act of god.
Yah. I do. do you?Originally posted by laurence82:Do u really understand karma?
Karma isnt attributed ot acts of god. dont mix buddhism and christianity up..the law of cause and effect is more complex than that...Originally posted by shade343:Yah. I do. do you?
What I mean is that, if you got killed in a tsunami, thats your karma. The law of Karma is quite simple actually. Its mention in the bible. What goes around comes around.Originally posted by laurence82:Karma isnt attributed ot acts of god. dont mix buddhism and christianity up..the law of cause and effect is more complex than that...
Nope. Karma in buddhism is much more complex than the 'karma' they have in christianity.Originally posted by shade343:What I mean is that, if you got killed in a tsunami, thats your karma. The law of Karma is quite simple actually. Its mention in the bible. What goes around comes around.
But the basic idea is still what goes around comes around. Your past karmic baggage is responsible for where you are right now.Originally posted by laurence82:Nope. Karma in buddhism is much more complex than the 'karma' they have in christianity.
Its a deeper and more complex.
Its not simply a kind of retribution for your past evil deeds as most would like to believe. I think you should ask the the peeps over in buddhism forum for greater clarity...
but attributing it to god?Originally posted by shade343:But the basic idea is still what goes around comes around. Your past karmic baggage is responsible for where you are right now.
oh well...if you move deeper into it, you will be speaking about fate liao..Originally posted by laurence82:but attributing it to god?
basic, yes its what u describe, but i wouldnt take along this line, coz its too simplistic....
hmm, doesnt affect me, i dont believe in destiny, as in everything is predestinedOriginally posted by shade343:oh well...if you move deeper into it, you will be speaking about fate liao..
