Michael according to Christian tradition
Michael in the Book of Enoch
Michael is designated in the Book of Enoch, as "the prince of Israel." He is the angel of forbearance and mercy (Enoch, xl:3) who taught Enoch the mysteries of clemency and justice (lxxi:2). In the book of Jubilees (i:27 and ii:1), the angel who is said to have instructed Moses on Mount Sinai and to have delivered to him the tables of the Law is most probably Michael.
Michael in the canonical New Testament
In the Epistle of Jude of the New Testament in verse 9, Michael disputes with Satan over the body of Moses. John's Book of Revelation also shows Michael fighting the seven-headed dragon, representative of Satan, in a battle in heaven.
Michael in the Christian Apocrypha
In the Apocalypse of Moses (book 1) of the Christian Apocrypha, it is stated that Moses received the two tablets through the mediation of Michael. -

Technically, there are only two Archangel, Michael and Lucifer. Archangels are the highest ranking angels. The other angel, mentioned by name in the bible, is Gabriel. Some would believe that Gabriel was promoted to 'Archangel' to replace Lucifer.
Other unnamed angels include:
- three that visited Abraham,
- two that went to Sodom,
- one at the tomb of Jesus,
- angels carried the spirit of Lazarus,
- and many others.
Interestingly, other works in the Apochrypha and Pseudepigrapha give names to many, many other angels. -

The Archangels are usually considered the second lowest order of the First Sphere; these angels tend the larger arenas of human endeavor and act as the administrative leaders of the Heavenly beings. An archangel is usually given a task of great importance to men. According to Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite's Angelology, however, the Archangels lie just above the lowest of the angel orders, the common Angels.
The word archangel is used only twice in the canonical Scripture—but several times in the Septuagint, once to refer to Michael the archangel and the other to who is believed to be Gabriel during the return of the Lord (Gabriel is preferred over Michael since he is the messenger angel).
Christians who disagree that Satan was a cherub before his fall from heaven are more modern and believe that he was an archangel, basing this belief on the facts that (a) the cherub that fell was a King on earth; and (b) the matchup in Revelation against the archangel Michael seems to show that he was an archangel

The Cherubim are beyond the throne of God; they are the guardians of light and of the stars. It is believed that, although they are removed from man's plane of reality, the divine light that they filter down from Heaven still touches human lives.
The Cherubim are thought by some as an order or class of angels, though others hold them to be a higher class of heavenly beings than angels. Their rank among angels is uncertain, but they are always categorized in the First Sphere.
Many Christians believe that the Devil is a fallen angel that was among the Cherubim prior to his fall from Heaven. They believe that the Devil was considered as the angel of light before his sin against God.
The Cherubim are mentioned in Genesis 3:24 ; Ezekiel 10:17–20 ; and 1 Kings 6:23–28 -

The name of this archangel (Raphael (means "God has healed") does not appear in the Hebrew Scriptures, and in the Septuagint only in the Book of Tobias. Here he first appears disguised in human form as the traveling companion of the younger Tobias, calling himself "Azarias the son of the great Ananias". The story of the adventurous journey during which the protective influence of the angel is shown in many ways including the binding "in the desert of upper Egypt" of the demon who had previously slain seven husbands of Sara, daughter of Raguel, is picturesquely related in Tobit 5-11, to which the reader is referred. After the return and the healing of the blindness of the elder Tobias, Azarias makes himself known as "the angel Raphael, one of the seven, who stand before the Lord" (Tob., xii, 15. Cf. Apoc., viii, 2). -
Archangel Uriel
The name Uriel (Hebrew: Auriel, aleph, vau, resh, yod, aleph, lamed) literally means "Fire of God," "Flame of God," "Light of God," or even "Sun of God." Uriel can be identified with Agni, Devic Lord of the mental plane--the plane of fire. [Alice A. Bailey. Treatise on Cosmic Fire. Lucis Trust, p. 605-6].
Some accounts place the Archangel Uriel at the head of the third order or company of angels. Others identify Uriel as one of the Seven Spirits before the Throne. Kabbalistic writings assign Uriel to the middle pillar of the Tree of Life, and specifically to the sephirah Malkuth, the Kingdom.
The Archangel Uriel personifies the Divine Fire that comes down from the 3rd Aspect of Deity--Universal Mind--penetrating each plane until It reaches the physical. There, the Fire ignites the fusion in the center of the Sun, the fission at the center of the Earth, and the kundalini at the base of the spine. It creates worlds, universes, and life--which then await the quickening impulse of the 2nd Aspect to evolve and grow.
The Book of Enoch describes Uriel as "one of the holy angels, who is over the world and over Tartarus... the leader of them all." Later we read in the same book: "Uriel showed to me, whom the Lord of glory hath set for ever over all the luminaries of the heaven... the sun, moon, and stars, all the ministering creatures which make their revolution in all the chariots of the heaven." -
