Is to win an argument to continue debating? Partly yes. To win an argument derives from hosts of reasons and attitudes, such as being assertive, being opinionated, total belief..etc
The first two would have come as a result of influence from westerners, that being the original source of christianity to the east as during the colonial times.
Lack of the third character? so far, i guess its u guys total belief in books like the bibles that results in the tone in this forum...
Many times, people misconstrue continual deabte as being insistent. What happene to the drive to add one's thoughts and information to the already existent pool?

BTW, laurence82, why did you come to EH occassionally to counter-our views? Since if you said the tone shock you or whatever, then why bother come here? To reform christianity? I think I should remind you that this is a christian forum setup not to have meaningless debates with outsiders who thinks he knows the truth of life. This forum is setup for fellow christians and at the same time to help people who want to know the Truth. Non-believers are welcome to comment but not to the extent of countering all our views with fellow christians and propose your views from a non-christian perspective. I hope I have made it clear. TY

We are afterall predominantly believers here, you moderate your own forum, and it is pretty obvious from your posts that you are very insecure and have a few issues. But still we don't tell you how you should keep your house right? So lay off being critical... we have enough negative news going around already... no need to add to it all the time.
Like Jnwk has said, please don't try to reform Christianity... this is afterall our belief, if you would like to believe something else, we won't stop you or condemn you.
But if you are truly seeking, then by all means, post relevant questions and comments. We answer from a biblical perspective because it is the core of our being, that is why we are believers... you would not expect a muslim or a buddhist to answer outside of their core beliefs... so why do you expect us to be any different.
Hope you can see that we love you still. Try to be conscious about how you come across to us and try to read everything here with a more open mind, bearing in mind that we ARE believers and Christians here... God Bless. -

I counter every view? If you observe hard enuff, there are specific topics i dont touch at all.
I for one believe in being a devil's advocate. Altho i come in with another intention, now that u mention it, for me, its really good to counter every christian view from a non christian perspective.
Why remain stagnant and in denial by just wanting to discuss things from a christian perspective, and label any non christian view that do counter your own view as negative or to be ignored?
Its like adding spices to the everyday fare. Thats what good argument and debates should be all abt. -

christianity is not just a religion.its a relationship with God. that is, if u believe in God. christians shldnt spread the gospel because of "duty" but it shld be real as in they relli wan to see ppl get saved(cuz we believe non-believers goes to hell). its very hard for a christian to dare to speak to a stranger too it takes alot of courage n love. maybe at times christian tend to get too "irritating".. dats because they relli wanna share the gospel u see..my suggestion to u, either receive with an open heart(to say the truth, i strongly believe that christianity is the only true "religion" cuz there has been many proves, like old relics n places that was mentioned in the bible being discovered.) or if u relli are not interested, tell them u are not and perhaps ask them to understand n respect your feelings? im sure they will respect your decision..
