its the tone...Originally posted by ben1xy:really that bad meh? i find it ok to be honest ...
maybe i am biased
I think I better go back to my pew and sit down to study God's words than to have this meaningless conversation going on here.Originally posted by laurence82:Sheesh, u still dont get my point, note: its not that you dont agree with my point... , i hope my point dont get misconstrued further....
Is to win an argument to continue debating? Partly yes. To win an argument derives from hosts of reasons and attitudes, such as being assertive, being opinionated, total belief..etc
The first two would have come as a result of influence from westerners, that being the original source of christianity to the east as during the colonial times.
Lack of the third character? so far, i guess its u guys total belief in books like the bibles that results in the tone in this forum...
Many times, people misconstrue continual deabte as being insistent. What happene to the drive to add one's thoughts and information to the already existent pool?
Yes, u should do more constructive work. Many of my frens are already doing that, which is why when i first step into EH, the tone shocked me....
Actually laurence, the tone is decidedly baised towards Christianity... and for this forum, i think that it is more than acceptable.Originally posted by laurence82:its the tone...

Here is a quote which I would like to share with everyone here
[b]One should not engage in theological disputes; there is room for many different viewpoints, and no single viewpoint is the final truth. One should reflect, instead, on the means to awaken devotion, and one should engage oneself in the practice of those means.

Religious debates are a waste of time. It just show narrow mindedness and to a certain extent, religious fanticism.Originally posted by ben1xy:religious debates nv win converts...

Not really. Unless you are an oldbie like sillyme or dennis, aka s|nned who is the mod here and my fren, in fact same school mate, who knew what is going on and the reason for me coming in here, pls dont second guess my intention or suggest anything.Originally posted by jnwk:I think I better go back to my pew and sit down to study God's words than to have this meaningless conversation going on here.
BTW, laurence82, why did you come to EH occassionally to counter-our views? Since if you said the tone shock you or whatever, then why bother come here? To reform christianity? I think I should remind you that this is a christian forum setup not to have meaningless debates with outsiders who thinks he knows the truth of life. This forum is setup for fellow christians and at the same time to help people who want to know the Truth. Non-believers are welcome to comment but not to the extent of countering all our views with fellow christians and propose your views from a non-christian perspective. I hope I have made it clear. TY

If aspects of it is detrimental to peace of the society and members uttering words, like condemning non believers to hell and damnation, acting like false prophet by quoting the bible and 'healing' people, going to other people and pressurize them to be christians and all that, i believe its my right as a member of this same society to step in.Originally posted by breytonhartge:Actually laurence, the tone is decidedly baised towards Christianity... and for this forum, i think that it is more than acceptable.
We are afterall predominantly believers here, you moderate your own forum, and it is pretty obvious from your posts that you are very insecure and have a few issues. But still we don't tell you how you should keep your house right? So lay off being critical... we have enough negative news going around already... no need to add to it all the time.
Like Jnwk has said, please don't try to reform Christianity... this is afterall our belief, if you would like to believe something else, we won't stop you or condemn you.
But if you are truly seeking, then by all means, post relevant questions and comments. We answer from a biblical perspective because it is the core of our being, that is why we are believers... you would not expect a muslim or a buddhist to answer outside of their core beliefs... so why do you expect us to be any different.
Hope you can see that we love you still. Try to be conscious about how you come across to us and try to read everything here with a more open mind, bearing in mind that we ARE believers and Christians here... God Bless.
wah.......... i made a statement only ...............Originally posted by laurence82:to win converts?
so if it never win converts, we must not engage in any form of debate?
i dont think that should be the purpose of any debate, neither should the absence of such effects should do away with religious debate altogether....
to think laurence himself said we shouldn't read too much from just a reply?Originally posted by ben1xy:wah.......... i made a statement only ...............

Don't worry about having limited knowledge.Originally posted by bluewinged:christianity is not just a religion.its a relationship with God. that is, if u believe in God. christians shldnt spread the gospel because of "duty" but it shld be real as in they relli wan to see ppl get saved(cuz we believe non-believers goes to hell). its very hard for a christian to dare to speak to a stranger too it takes alot of courage n love. maybe at times christian tend to get too "irritating".. dats because they relli wanna share the gospel u see..my suggestion to u, either receive with an open heart(to say the truth, i strongly believe that christianity is the only true "religion" cuz there has been many proves, like old relics n places that was mentioned in the bible being discovered.) or if u relli are not interested, tell them u are not and perhaps ask them to understand n respect your feelings? im sure they will respect your decision..
