aiyoh why you care what they believe? Parents you also want to control? If they find joy in fellowship, then let them be. Not that they are slipping out to do bad things.Originally posted by Townlink 268:cos they r buddhists, and going to church is a no-no.. i dont like it

not trying to convert?Originally posted by ben1xy:is that really the case? i mean seriously... i dun see anyone from eternal hope trying to convert the rest. they r on the defensive most of the time.. getting bombarded.
hmm ... maybe i am biased subconsciously bah
but looking at hunnybunz, icemoon, etc ... they really arent asking people to convert bah
this is the first time i see children preventing parents from believing in another faithOriginally posted by Icemoon:aiyoh why you care what they believe? Parents you also want to control? If they find joy in fellowship, then let them be. Not that they are slipping out to do bad things.
Empty house .. haha .. then follow them lor.
in what way has their behaviour and attitude change negatively?Originally posted by Townlink 268:cos they r buddhists, and going to church is a no-no.. i dont like it

and i daresay over the 3 weeks they been going, i sensed their attitude has changed negatively.. n mgonna prevent disaster!! aHHHH..
from the way u put it .... sounds bad eh?Originally posted by laurence82:not trying to convert?
u just condemned people to eternal damnation, not only do you act god, you are teling people to believe in christ...
like i said, give them no reason tooOriginally posted by ben1xy:from the way u put it .... sounds bad eh?
personally i share the good news.. thats all. not really into evangelising.. i feel that actions are stronger than words.
i respect other religions and the Catholic church has been promoting acumenism too. i guess its a good head start.
but non-christians attack Christians too though ... and when people attack our faith.. we have to defend it. the same way u will fight to defend the name of your parents.
isnt it the same?
right now ... there's this big movement where heaps of teenagers are moving towards Christianity.Originally posted by laurence82:like i said, give them no reason too
few weeks ago, somebody started a topic on christians saying silly stuff on chinese ghost festival
that is based on what some christians have done
of cuz after that the topic become silly mud slinging on both sides....but looking at the original intention of that topic, it was to raise awareness some christians are doing this
not only that, the impressionable youth are more susceptible to scamsOriginally posted by ben1xy:right now ... there's this big movement where heaps of teenagers are moving towards Christianity.
the problem is with age actually. Young kids tend to be less sensitive and more impressionable. therefore... they would be making a lot of remarks that would probably irk non-christians.
not that i am defending them... it's juz... wad do u want the rest to do??
I really reckon its a 2 way thing and both parties are at fault IMO
hahaa .. erm... it's not that i am standing on 1 side. it's juz that the Christian approach and the Catholic approach is different. i am not advocating which side is correct btw.Originally posted by laurence82:what i want the rest to do? i have no idea, there is this particular group of people in your faith who are going around doing such stuff, and you gonna stand one side?
besides, need not to be outside forum ,look at particular people within this forum itself...
hmm, i never had a Catholic fren or relatives preaching to me...Originally posted by ben1xy:hahaa .. erm... it's not that i am standing on 1 side. it's juz that the Christian approach and the Catholic approach is different. i am not advocating which side is correct btw.
i do talk abt my faith to others... but mostly to friends
I think this is due to their church lifestyle. If you attended Mass, you know how different it is from Protestant services. Somehow, they're just not told or encouraged during Mass to bring friends to hear the good news.Originally posted by laurence82:hmm, i never had a Catholic fren or relatives preaching to me...
i reckoned we are supposed to preach the gospel... but in a non-intrusive manner. and through actions too. and of coz... a lot of catholics are lazy.Originally posted by Icemoon:I think this is due to their church lifestyle. Of course, they don't have magicians and singers to bring people to Christ.
liddat only can convert those people living a wretched and poor life. If you are rich and affluent, obviously you don't need her help.Originally posted by ben1xy:something along the line of what Mother Theresa did i guess. She went out not to convert people but to maintain their dignity esp. during death. But by doing this, she converted thousands.
i got no problems with wad u said.Originally posted by Icemoon:liddat only can convert those people living a wretched and poor life. If you are rich and affluent, obviously you don't need her help.
Don't think Mother Theresa can made that sort of impact in Singapore, pardon me.
No wonder Jesus said "Blessed are the XX " in the beautitudes. Never said "blessed are the rich" sort of thing.
This is where CHC comes in...Originally posted by Icemoon:liddat only can convert those people living a wretched and poor life. If you are rich and affluent, obviously you don't need her help.

cos nobody invited them?Originally posted by mistyblue:Xtians think non-xtains should be more "open" minded to go to their church...
but how come they cannot be more open minded themselves and visit other religion's places of worship ???
but would Xtians think its a insult. I guess other people didn't want to insult another religion by telling them their is not good enough and therefore, they need to visit another religion to "awaken" and be converted to be "saved"Originally posted by Icemoon:cos nobody invited them?
got ah ... that time religious harmony day ... we all went to the mosque, temple, etc.Originally posted by mistyblue:Xtians think non-xtains should be more "open" minded to go to their church...

Xtians preach, invite you to church 'cos they want you to be saved. This is goodwill on their part, despite the insensitivity sometimes.Originally posted by mistyblue:but would Xtians think its a insult. I don't invite cause I don't like to insult people.
basically everyone wants to do good loh.. but everyone has their own views of what is good ... just some are more zealot type and that grates on other people's sensitivity ...Originally posted by Icemoon:Xtians preach, invite you to church 'cos they want you to be saved. other religions have different views of salvation, I suppose. Hence you cannot compare which religion is better (or whether "their is not good enough") 'cos salvation from the Christian context is non-existence in other religions.
