no offence or insults. but i want some one to clarify..
Why does christians always ask other non-christian ppl eg colleagues, friends relatives, to go to their church?
sure, singapore let religions be practised freely, ppl are at their own freedom, but why Christians are like that? i dont see my catholic friends doing this acts, and i have an exception Christian friend, who also dont do this, but thats all..
So why like this? cant Christians keep to themselves without ever trying so hard to get ppl to believe in Christianity? ppl generally "convert" when they want to, or in nastier terms, after excessive exposure to it..
You dont see Catholics or Buddhists or Muslims doing this..
and yes, religion is sensitive, but this is getting ridiculous as my household is going to get topsy-turvy soon..
and a few times theres this christian ah pek on board a bus, and start giving flyers about his church (newton rd) to the passengers, and while m out on some school activities, those "volunteers" will also start to talk to you like "do you believe in GOD?" -

Secondly, most Catholics have neglected this aspect of spreading the faith by words. We prefer to spread our faith by actions.
Now, some Christians' way of evangelising can be rather pushy. I hope that you aren't too offended. Evangelism can be annoying to non-Christians sometimes. -
when a person says no, respect their descision.. dont be too pushy.. agree.. not like they gonna get a commission for introducng some1 to go to their church? -

just say thanks but no thanks... I have a really good friend who is a non-christian, we agree to disagree on this topic, he knows my views and I know his... so I leave him be. I think that if they are truly your friends, they will understand. some more xtians are commanded by no less than the Lord Himself to spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations. -
you have any religion yourself? You play tit for tat lor .. you tell them to go temple with you, in exchange for the church trip. Go church 2 hrs. Go temple 2 hrs also. you know what i say? i observed that usually, what religion you are depends on your affluence and quality of life.. you hardly see a high end CEO in a temple, or a kopitiam uncle in a church.. get me? sigh*
and yes, temples, getais have no AC, and this keeps ppl away.. i hate to say many youngsters are christians/catholics.. and i say MAYBE and again, this is due to "class" or quality of life.. -

being a christian has nothing to do with class or status or quality of life, it depends on whether the individual's heart is ready to receive. -

Christians view in things can be slightly different. Its like sharing the good things with others. I am sure you guys dont want people to share bad stuffs with you right ? They share the goodness in what they feel will benefit you thats why they share. The choice is up to you.

Most of them are in fact Taoists or Buddhists.
And most rich peeps with spoilt child? Hardly see such thing tho, even tho I am from ACJC. I think it would be a big generalisation to relate most rich peeps with spoilt child or divorces.

Those kids who can go JC obviously got something good in them, be it grades or sports. If you go ACS, then it will be different story. Those with sucky grades, they know they are rich to go overseas to study, so they heck care their O or N levels.
And those are obviously rich peeps. Their dads own shangari-las and oil refineries one.Doesnt mean if they are divorced they should nto associate themselves with any faith.
It tarnishes whatever religion they are in. Just my 1 cents. -

What i was trying to point out was that there is no clear figures enough to say rich people dont go temple or kopitiam uncle dont go churches. It is your own personal observation, so it might not be representative enough of the whole population.
Again, another generalisation. How do we know most of these peeps gave up studies because they know their parents are rich enough to send them overseas? Anyway, JC and A level is a sucky scheme. Seriously, most of what you said do clash with what i observe when i was in JC.
I am afraid to say, its like saying rich people shouldnt be rich at all. They are being blamed and ostracised, just for being rich?
For the last part, it depends on whose faith you are talking about. I know for Roman Catholicism, divorce is not allowed. How abt Anglicans, when King Henry separate the church from RC when he need to get a divorce?
And i dont see divorces being an issue in other faiths, other than christianity, islam and jewish. -

I feel that as long some christians continue the pushy tactics, there is no reason why non believers shouldnt rebutt or to fight back. You do something and not expecting the other party to have soem sort of reactions?
Its irksome to read some christians asking why they have been targetted. They dont realise, they may feel what they have done is right, but it is not so to many others.
The world doesnt revolve certain group of people, and many christians, it pretty worrying, dont realise they are living in a very realistic and very diverse world. most of the attitude of the evangelistic christians have been one of haughtiness, lack of awareness of their environment. Its akin to what icemoon said about rich man's kids, who are rather spoilt and haughty. -
Told you liao .. what you see in JC is "controlled". If the rich peeps are there, then their grade or sporting achievement has to make it. Were you from ACS?
Come to think of it, if your parents are rich and you don't have super good grades (to take S papers and get president scholarship), why would you continue to study in JC? You don't need JC to enter overseas university. And between local Uni and overseas uni, obviously overseas uni is a more attractive option. Plus you get your degree faster.
Divorce is higher among rich people. Go ACS and ask around.
