Firstly, it is the duty of all Christians to spread the faith.Originally posted by Townlink 268:no offence or insults. but i want some one to clarify..
Why does christians always ask other non-christian ppl eg colleagues, friends relatives, to go to their church?
sure, singapore let religions be practised freely, ppl are at their own freedom, but why Christians are like that? i dont see my catholic friends doing this acts, and i have an exception Christian friend, who also dont do this, but thats all..
So why like this? cant Christians keep to themselves without ever trying so hard to get ppl to believe in Christianity? ppl generally "convert" when they want to, or in nastier terms, after excessive exposure to it..
You dont see Catholics or Buddhists or Muslims doing this..
and yes, religion is sensitive, but this is getting ridiculous as my household is going to get topsy-turvy soon..
and a few times theres this christian ah pek on board a bus, and start giving flyers about his church (newton rd) to the passengers, and while m out on some school activities, those "volunteers" will also start to talk to you like "do you believe in GOD?"
ya .. so ask yourself why are they doing this?Originally posted by 105090:when a person says no, respect their descision.. dont be too pushy.. agree.. not like they gonna get a commission for introducng some1 to go to their church?
just tell them you are xtian lor.Originally posted by so_what:Tat's wat i hav been experience b4 too..dunno y...it's frustrating..sometimes really wan to avoid them if they kept "pyscho" us to join !!!!
if those pple who ask me go r my friends/ classmates, i cant really fark them off rite? then may sour friendship bla bla bla..Originally posted by Icemoon:just tell them you are xtian lor.
if they still ask you to join, then fark them. Are they bringing pple to God or bringing pple to their church?
just say thanks but no thanks... I have a really good friend who is a non-christian, we agree to disagree on this topic, he knows my views and I know his... so I leave him be. I think that if they are truly your friends, they will understand. Be polite but firm.Originally posted by 105090:if those pple who ask me go r my friends/ classmates, i cant really fark them off rite? then may sour friendship bla bla bla..
haha .. liddat those mega churches will have less business .. lolOriginally posted by shade343:Actually, why do christians need to approach people? Dont they have better things to do? Why not let people come to them?
you have any religion yourself? You play tit for tat lor .. you tell them to go temple with you, in exchange for the church trip. Go church 2 hrs. Go temple 2 hrs also. Not enuff can make up by burning paper money with you at night.Originally posted by 105090:if those pple who ask me go r my friends/ classmates, i cant really fark them off rite? then may sour friendship bla bla bla..
To obey Christ's greatest commission:Originally posted by shade343:Actually, why do christians need to approach people? Dont they have better things to do? Why not let people come to them?
hmm.. our dear Ho Yeow Sun and her gigantic Jurong West church?Originally posted by Icemoon:haha .. liddat those mega churches will have less business .. lol
some more xtians are commanded by no less than the Lord Himself to spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations.
i like this..Originally posted by Icemoon:you have any religion yourself? You play tit for tat lor .. you tell them to go temple with you, in exchange for the church trip. Go church 2 hrs. Go temple 2 hrs also. Not enuff can make up by burning paper money with you at night.
But tell them no air-con entertainment .. only getai under the canopy .. lol
Then MAYBE again, there just is something about what Jesus says and living a life for God/Christ that gives meaning and fills the emptiness of your soul. Young people these days are very demanding and perceptive... and you have to ask the question, why Christianity?Originally posted by Townlink 268:i like this..
you know what i say? i observed that usually, what religion you are depends on your affluence and quality of life.. you hardly see a high end CEO in a temple, or a kopitiam uncle in a church.. get me? sigh*
and yes, temples, getais have no AC, and this keeps ppl away.. i hate to say many youngsters are christians/catholics.. and i say MAYBE and again, this is due to "class" or quality of life..
The high end CEO still need to go temple meh? they build altar in their house liao lor .. worship at home. Don't think they like to squeeze with pple during the festive days, besides they have no time to do that. Not that go there can meet other CEOs for business opportunities.Originally posted by Townlink 268:you know what i say? i observed that usually, what religion you are depends on your affluence and quality of life.. you hardly see a high end CEO in a temple, or a kopitiam uncle in a church.. get me? sigh*
I think most of them are without a religion.Originally posted by laurence82:in my sch alone, most of the rich peeps dad and mum, who are also english educated, are not christians
Figures to prove it?Originally posted by Icemoon:I think most of them are without a religion.
Those rich peeps .. most of them with spoilt child .. many of the mums and dads are divorced too .. how I wish they are not from any religion.
and your figures to prove it?Originally posted by laurence82:Figures to prove it?
Most of them are in fact Taoists or Buddhists.
And most rich peeps with spoilt child? Hardly see such thing tho, even tho I am from ACJC. I think it would be a big generalisation to relate most rich peeps with spoilt child or divorces. Those kids who can go JC obviously got something good in them, be it grades or sports. If you go ACS, then it will be different story. Those with sucky grades, they know they are rich to go overseas to study, so they heck care their O or N levels.
Doesnt mean if they are divorced they should nto associate themselves with any faith. It tarnishes whatever religion they are in. Just my 1 cents.
Well, someone might use the bible again to justify the pushy tactics, then what do you say to this?Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:Firstly, it is the duty of all Christians to spread the faith.
Secondly, most Catholics have neglected this aspect of spreading the faith by words. We prefer to spread our faith by actions.
Now, some Christians' way of evangelising can be rather pushy. I hope that you aren't too offended. Evangelism can be annoying to non-Christians sometimes.
