My views:
1) Church mainly preach on morality/legalism and lesser on Grace
2) Bad attitute of fellow Christians
3) Disillusionment from organised religion
4) Bad preaching - salvation not assured. Believers doubtful and backslided
5) No peer encouragement/laziness - skipped church/BS and tat's it....it can only go down...
6) lack of faith - when bad things happen...lost faith easily... -

The most important factor is the people. When you have fellow church-goers preaching one thing but doing another, you will leave too. It's like leaving a company when your boss is nice to you in front but backstabs you once you turn your back to him.

Why people fled from one church to another church
1) Church mainly preach from the Bible and not some new fangled feel-good "theology"
2) Bad dress sense of fellow Christians
3) Disillusionment with boring speakers
4) Bad preaching - wealth and health not promised, but should be!
5) No peer encouragement/laziness, no unyielding CG leaders, celebrity pastors.
6) Lack of babes.

No...it is not compulsory to give $$$ to the church....as far as scripture is concern, GOD wants u to give from ur heart and he loves a cheerful giver:
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
Sowing Generously
6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
I suppose u r talking abt tithing....where tithing is seen in scripture, it does not necessarily means money, but also in kind (agricultural produce/lifestock).
It was a law given to the jews to give back to GOD a portion of what they have taken from HIM. As shown in Leviticus 27:
30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORDÂ’S: it is holy unto the LORD.
31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.
32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.
Here u can see GOD reproach the jews for disobeying his laws and robbing him, and yet he promised them things ever more in abundance if they tithe!
Malachi 3:6-12

6 "I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty.

I'll have to agree with the second point, on the bad attitude of fellow brothers and sisters. Sometimes, the greatest enemy to the God is ourselves. People may leave the church because of us.

1) People using the Church for their personal gain, ala NKF, esp those at the top of the food chain.
2) People evangelising to satisfy their ego.
3) Arrogance of some Christians, they tend to put down other religions. The battle is lost even before they start to preach. -

Okay.. Seriously speaking.. I believe Christianity are holding on to values and teachings that were important 2000 years back.. If Christians can recognise that some of these writings have "human" influence and are willing to tweak their teachings to fit into the modern world, the religion will be able to attract more people..
Hence, my opinion is simply.. "Church is pushing people away" and not "People are fleding from Church".. -

and you sort of contradict yourself with your points. You said Islam is on the rise, but you ignore the fact the religion has more "outdated" teachings than Christianity. -
