Why I disagree with anything-goes theory:
In the book of matthew:
Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? [b]No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Remember the luke-warm church in the book of Revelations? GOD will spit them out....(I know all about you: how you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other, but since you are neither, but only lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth. You say to yourself, 'I am rich, I have made a fortune, and have everything I want', never realizing that you are wretchedly and pitiably poor, and blind and naked too).
and
1 Corinthians 21: Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

Your last part not to put God in a box i fully agree with u. I will try not to limit him to my own understanding, but pray that He revealed his will to me.Originally posted by M©+square:
To me, John 14v6 does not only talk about salvation. There is more to it.
Interesting what kind of Christian teachings would draw Christians away from God? Do i interprete the word 'anything' some teachings other than church/bible teachings itself?
I can teach about 'tithing onto God'(true teaching)
Blessing God so to recieve multiple folds of blessings(True teaching)
every sunday, does it bring anyone closer to God and focus onto God?
23 "All things are lawful," but not all things are beneficial. "All things are lawful," but not all things build up.
1Cor10v23 NRSV
In contextwise. I don't know about you. But it is open to various interpretation. Which is the truth?
I see this context as half truth.
Not asking you to doubt Christ.
Just telling you that in Christ, there are many perspective to seeing God.
Salvation is one way. Process of Christianhood is many.
Do not put yourself/belief/Bible/God in box. Lest you may not see Him moving in new ways.
Cheers.
there are many important verses which we cannot interprete anyother way we want because it is clear cut issue.Originally posted by laoda99:Your last part not to put God in a box i fully agree with u. I will try not to limit him to my own understanding, but pray that He revealed his will to me.
As for John 14:6, what is your other intepretation?
For the messages that would draw Christians away from Christ, one of which I can think of is the Wealth/Health/Prosperity Teachings. This was the reason why I left NCC.
Hmm..I have not come across this verse b4 (abt the beneficial thingy)...i will go read it up again and get back to u...why do u think is half truth?
My point is: Some verses in the bible we have to take literally, most importantly the part that Jesus died as a man for our sins and was raised after 3 days. If one would not believe this, probably he would be a muslim/jew or a gnostic. We have to be careful when we say "do not read the bible' literally, as non-believers may be encouraged to say:"ah.....Jesus never die...this is your own interpretation."
What would be the truth anymore then?
sorry for misintepretating u...i think what we believe is the same....mebbe u have misintepreted me too? i think i am very lor so...Originally posted by M©+square:there are many important verses which we cannot interprete anyother way we want because it is clear cut issue.
If people were to interprete the verses thru denial. IMO, let them be.
But if a christian were to do the same like the non believers. Then i'll get to the matter.
I think it's off point and i'm quite mis interpretated,
Cheers
