The best way to see if it is a real "tongue" is a person who can recognise it. If everyone just speaks haywire and no one understand, then it just meant it is crap. Everyone can speak gibberish. Lets just be rational and think for a moment. If tongue speaking is prevalent in hindu (example) and not in christianity, wat do u think u will say about speaking in tongue ? -
If praying in tongue is just the gibberish commonly heard in church, then it is not verifiable. No use speculating.
If someone can suddenly speak some ulu African language, then it is worth a second look. There are testimonies of such phenomena happening. -

Hmmm... tis reminded me of something tt I had wanted to ask anyone long ago.. When u go to a church n everyone ard u started to pray in tongues, r they really praying or speaking garbbish?? From wat I know, tongue is a gift language.. But does it mean that everyone who goes to church will noe it?? tot it belongs to onli selective few?? If not everyone noes it, then it means that they r faking it..

There is nothing wrong with speaking in tongues. Even we Catholics have it. If it brings you closer to God, then good. But if you fake it, better be careful...

human psychology is weaker than u think. U can convince people to do crazy things or think he had the ability to do crazy things if u had done enough convincing. U can see many examples of cult making members commit sucide or killing their babies with just one word from the religious leader. With enough convincing, u can tell people tat they can communicate with a being tat doesn't exists and worse still, think they can speak ina tongue where no one understand.

Its a gimmick, and testament to the proposition that religion is the bane of logical thinking.
It reminds me of the many quacks in martial arts circles who make use of suggestible students. Eg. a number of people claim they can do pressure point knockouts, and by this they mean one-touch (not one-punch) knockouts. Now, the problem is that they appear only to be able to do this to their students. This will suggest that the students are unconsciously faking it. I tink this tongue nonsense is a variation of that.

My view may very well change if it can be shown that the Gibberish spouted by some is actually a proper Foreign Language that the utterer has had no experience with. And and i dun mean one or two foreign words either - i mean proper conherent senteces.
Now, if uttering nonsense if a sign that one has received a baptism from god, then I, a non believer has received baptism from god because if i can utter Gibberish. So do all babies. And someone mentioned dogs too. -

You cannot show that those "nonsense" you heard are truly nonsense, in the league of dogs barking and babies gurgling. Angelic tongues are meant to be unintelligible anyway. It is just that they are not verifiable, so it is no use speculating about them. -

Yah right... IMHO they r as crappy as miracle healings etc. Just think for a moment, do u really think tat it can heal a person sickness by the will of a pastor or father ? If it can be done, why do some church organisation still donate money for the deaf or blind homes ? Isn't the best donation to these people the ability to be normal ? Why give them money when the pastor, by his will can heal them ? The statement is vague, hence I won't affirm or deny it. Whatever the case, such miracles are done according to the will of God. The same for answered prayers.

Not possible. Science cannot "touch" the realm of the supernatural. If you cannot perform experiment or carry out an observational study, then very hard right? But since healings relate directly to the medical science, perhaps you can ask the doctor who examined the healed person? Like if the person can suddenly walk, or the cancer overnight gone, such events can be verified medically. We cannot study the miracle, but we can study the result of the miracle. But take note, this doesn't really prove the miracle. The whole thing boils down to causality.
I leave you to find those doctors, ask them then present your case to us.

The truth is you never catch the phrases . .so where you get your example? As such, you have failed to convince me they are not consistent. Look, I'm not saying they are consistent and I dunno who are spourting rubbish, but my feeling is that many tongues we hear in church today are fake. But this doesn't invalidate the gift of tongue.
