here's a way to improve your english... read comics! serious!
especially comics like Asterix and Tintin... they have are translated into very good english and slowly and surely you will pick it up.. especially Asterix, where everyone and everything is turned into a joke and a pun... like for example, the druid who mixes their potion is Getafix.. get a fix, slang for using some kind of drug...

yah, it's hilarious!
read into it and you'll find almost every line they say has more than 1 meaning... there are references to history, to people, to lots of silly things like puns, legendary 'characteristics' of people and just plain nonsense which are part of the story and sometimes the whole series...
