Thanks for replying... I think I know what 2 do now..Originally posted by gasband:It is my conviction that this 10% that we are talking in modern days are indicative. What do I mean?
I mean to say that it is NOT a rule that you must give 10%. You can give 1%, you can give 90%, that will not make God any happier nor sadder. The fact you must recognised is that God ACTUALLY owns 100% of what you have and you are just giving part of it back to Him. Thus, you have to get the 10% our of your head...because once we treat giving to God like as if we are submitting for our annual INCOME TAX, of cos we will heart pain and full of complaints. Give according to your heart as in 2 Corinthians 9:7. BUT this is not an excuse to shortchange God. God knows your heart. If you are a 'CHEERFUL GIVER' because you can give lesser now, God forbids it.
Then we come to the issue of CHEERFUL GIVING. Does cheerful giving means a person who only has a monthly income of $1000 gives away $100 or $200 is not worried about not enough money?
No. Even in giving, sometimes we are worried. We may ask questions like 'God, I dun think I would have enough if I were to give you this much..' or 'God, i need this to pay for my bills...'. We ask questions like this...but 'cheerful giving' occurs in these questions when you realise 'Yes God...though i may think i will lack cash...but i know when i give to you...you promise in Philippians 4:19 that you will meet my needs according to your riches, you are a PROVIDER! Thus i trust in you and will give this amount that my heart prompts me to!.' That in short is CHEERFUL GIVING. Knowing that God will bless us EVEN MORE when we give....we have the assurance to give cheerfully.
Hoho good for you.....Originally posted by *evanesence*:Thanks for replying... I think I know what 2 do now..![]()
Frankly speaking, if you believe God is the Creator; if He can create the Earth, humans and everything else, do you think He'll need your money??? Think abt it.Originally posted by *evanesence*:hi all... I feel so bad... cus recently, I got my pay check and Im supposed 2 give God 10% of it...

despite having read about it on the Bible, tithing continued to be my struggle until i saw the frugal lifestyles of our senior pastors. they gave up promising careers, live in HDBs, take public transport and serve God like there's no tommorow. as in any organization, transparency and leading by example assures ppl that their contributions are for the right cause.Originally posted by *evanesence*:hi all... the reason why many ppl have different feelings towards Christianity. The understanding behind this giving of 10% should not be constrained to monetary terms...in fact it can be time or harvest(if u r a farmer) or even meat(if u r a butcher)...but ppl nowadays seldom do the above (complain no time!!) so money is justified. I feel that if you cant even give to God(not for Him of course but for His work) 10% of your income....how much devotion can you show? if the toughest part of your life(ie. money) you want to leave God out of it....then u still call Him your LORD of all???Originally posted by boy in blues:despite having read about it on the Bible, tithing continued to be my struggle until i saw the frugal lifestyles of our senior pastors. they gave up promising careers, live in HDBs, take public transport and serve God like there's no tommorow. as in any organization, transparency and leading by example assures ppl that their contributions are for the right cause.
God owns 100% of what He loaned to us. seeing the biblical lifestyles and conviction of church leaders gives ppl assurance their money goes as intended by God.Originally posted by NeonTetra:the reason why many ppl have different feelings towards Christianity.
