Yes kirk of "growing pains" fame, but I watched it in my church, they feature various films (local and foreign) almost bi-monthly.Originally posted by sillyme:it's only shown in states right?? kirk cameron??
true... but like the way he writes. Doesn't tell you that he is a know-it-all. Always come from the point that he was searching too and found. So sharing his journey of sorts. In that way, he is not the high and mighty one and we are the one struggling...Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:Philip Yancy... a tad thelogical though...
those are very touching and very real. Haven't set down to reading them yet. What did you glean from the bk?Originally posted by gasband:i like reading biographies, my fagv being Nora, William Carey and this good book called Behind the Veil, about a pakistani girl who converted to christians and was persecuted..
Nora was about this chinese lady called NORA LAM who was living in the communist period in China. She converted to christianity overseas and went back to China. She suffered alot under the rule. She was brought to a facility to be tortured (it was gruesome, the tortures, i wun describe it her) just because she own a pair of SOCKS from france. it is very inspiring.Originally posted by pool.gal:those are very touching and very real. what got a socks from France to do with persecution?Originally posted by gasband:Nora was about this chinese lady called NORA LAM who was living in the communist period in China. William Carey of course was about the famous missonary.
Behind the veil is about this pakistani girl who converted to christianity and when she told her family, her brothers issued an order to kill her to protect the name of Allah. So she escaped to London....and she went back to Pakistan...she is still alive today...
Well reading these books make me thank God that it is so much easier to be a christian nowadays. We can read our bible and gop to church openly. We should be grateful and not take it for granted.
