Doesn't make sense for 156 to have any fleet add forget massive fleet add, considering the poor or average loading on this service.

156 share the same fate as 852,Cannot withdrawn but cannot add too many buses also.

Before they considered the service warrant fleet adds they must first survey the loadings during off and peak hours.You need extra manpower,You must change rostering and schedules and must really considered is it worth?Cannot suka2 add here and there just because of a couple of heavy load trips.They can tweak the timings or cut 1 split to normal day bus.
Looks like the new Woodlands Interchange has added a lot of time to services. If you see almost all Woodlands services have got fleet add close to opening of new interchange or after opening.
161 added 3 DDs
168 added 3 DDs
961 got 2 SDs
962 got SD
963 got 2 buses added
965 got 3 buses added
969 got 1 bus added
All Woodlands intra-towns got 2-4 buses added
Didnt know 969, 961,963 got bus added. Still see the same number of bus on respective service. 965 got 3 bus added before WTBI opens, i think someone including myself complain abt frequency problems on 965 during peak hour that why they add 3 AP shift on weekdays n wkends

That's why I stated just before opening and after.
After Joo Koon rationalization project in Nov/Dec, one quarter later updates:
256 downgraded 3 DDs -> SDs
193 upgraded 2 SDs -> DDs
249 added 2 DDs.
Service 43 capacity upgrade confirmed: Upgrade for SBS5156C (First bus from Upper East Coast terminal)
SBS3446D is replacing SBS5156C.
SBS7703K is still on 43.
Service 43 is getting full far too often. Even during off-peak hours, SDs are sometimes packed to the door.
2 DD fleet adds would be better. One of them should be S shift bus, timed at the early peak hour towards UEC (after SBS3440U slot), as SBS3440U (and SBS3003Z previously) was packed to the door before it enters YCK Road, if it was more than 5 minutes away from 43M DD in front.
The other DD should be an A/P bus to help with off-peak frequency and the crowds at Paya Lebar. Anyway, I don't go to the other side of 43's route.
At first, I thought that SBS6733E was temporary replacement for pending capacity upgrade. SBS6733E is still on 43 today though, swapped with SBS6500K.
Might as well make 43 full DDs..

Adding A22s and some O405Gs cause not enough DDs to deploy.
SMRT Capacity upgrades
169 -> SD to DD (now operating with 6 DDs, 10 BDs, 14 SDs)
189 -> SD to DD (now operating with 6 DDs, 7 SDs)
925 -> SD fleet add (now operating with 16 buses)
950 -> 2 SD fleet add (from 12 to 14 buses) fleet add to a JB service after ages!!
962 -> 2 SD fleet add (now operating with 9 A22s, 6 BDs)
61 got DD->SD downgrade. Now operating with only 3 DDs from 4 DDs. There is still one bendy.

61 all along only 3 perm DDs,The 4th DD is just a cameo for Kjdep BCs to get familiar with DD.Amdep BCs also drive SMB3610E before it went to 854/857.

911 has got another 3 SD fleet add..
It is absolutely crazy that 911 has 17 buses, 912 has 18 buses and 913 has 16 buses.
911 was earlier doing well with 10 buses, 912 with 12 buses and 913 with 12 buses. Just because the bendies had to be downgraded. Every bendy downgrade has resulted in adding 2 MANA22s.
How will SMRT make profit with such kind of stupid deployment? Now instead of a bendy taking 100 pax. You will have 2 MANA22s take 50 pax each.
SMRT bendy strategy for feeders/intra-towns has totally failed. It should have rather just ordered more DDs and gotten northern residents used to going upper deck like in SBST area.

911 can do well with 6 bendies/6 rigids,912 can survive with 10 bendies/6 rigids and 913 with 9 bendies/5 rigids provided convert some split duties to full day.901 another common bunching issues..should be 6 bendies/2 rigids enough le..failed big time Woodlands and Yishun feeders.

I agree. Textbook fleet planning failure. I am revolted by their lack of competency.

The hints from LTA which we know dont encourage to use bendy buses already..If LTA concerned about SMRT feeders they had already order A24s to support those feeders instead of spamming more A22s into such routes which of course occur more bunchings.LTA could have just instructed SMRT to scrap all their O405Gs againts A24s if they need to though(3 O405Gs vs 1 A24).
If you look at Bulim and Loyang there is no dedicated 18m bus parking lots too..SMRT just hantam using whatever space available for the bendies..

I agree with what you said.
Have you taken a look at the new temporary woodlands interchange? The parking arrangement is not only disgusting but also blatantly dangerous and against the natural flow and order of traffic.
See the manner in which TWO buses park back to back in a single parking lot meant for only one bus. The front bus have to be moved forward slightly in order to accommodate a second bus in the same parking lot, although the rear bus ass still sticking out and must reverse to exit, grinding peak hour traffic behind to a halt. Thankfully it might seem they have come to their senses and have scaled back this dangerous, unusual and unpredictable practice of double parking.

There's another way to look at this: SMRT Buses may have anticipated if they were to lose Seletar parcel tender as well, 40 bendy buses may be all they need for the remaining routes (especially if 858 is included in the Seletar package).
If LTA refuses to take up the remaining A24s after 2022 (assuming the 3 doors concept buses did take their place), it is then up to SMRT Buses to dispose the fleet themselves.
