      lol .. basically im a com noob .

      My com is abt P4 1.8ghz . 1.0gb ram .

      3 days ago , i was clearing space for my hard disk . I have 3 drives , partitioned into abt 80g, 40g ,40g . The thing is i stored alot animes vids , songs etc anywhere along the 3 drives as long as there are space over the months but decided to del all as i didnt re-watch them and my com storage is lacking.

      So i freed abt 38g , 15g, 15g respectively . I realised after i had done that , my com speed/performance is reduced drastically . I m having lag spikes even just using a web browser alone! I used to be able to multi task like opening several browsers , games , music player etc. But now i cant , my com will freeze.

      I defrag my largest drive and condition seemed to improve alittle , but no where up to my satisifaction. It will always prompt me virtual memory low , memory not enough etc .

      I probably could reformat it , but i dont wish to as i have alot programs and info on my com, neither i would want to have it crashed permanently any moment.

      So, any com pros can suggest something i could do ? Besides defrag ?Thx

      Im not very sure, did u empty ur recycle bin?

      Did u accidently delete the system files?

      no i don think i del any system files .. n yes i defrag the largest drive that has the OS .. basically it is driving me nuts .. imagine a p4 capable com is only able to run a browser , msn and maybe a media player .. if i youtube , i probably have lag spikes n freeze .. damn sian

      Is there a lot of CPU or disk activity even when you're not doing anything with the computer?

      more like whats the speed of his ram also..

      mine runs fine with 1GB PC2 4300.. i know it isnt fast but yeah, this was fast 2 years ago. then again, my CPU's a pentium D.. angel.png

      I dont even use >45% when i m using an xp with 2gb icon_lol.gif

      on the otherhand.. for vista..icon_mad.gif

      1gb is good enough for the average user ( word docs, websurfing, maybe light gaming)

      downgrading to XP is quite commonly done for non-personal systems now.

      hmm .. i check task manager , cpu usage is 90% like now .. open msn , browser with 5 tabs and WOW .. thats all .. i used to be able to have more programs .. wtf ..

      What about the disk and CPU activity when the computer is idling? And can you refer to the sticky, create a HijackThis log, upload the log to Mediafire and post the download link here?
